CJ's Weekly DRF/TimeformUS Speed Figure Review

While CJ is still recovering from eye surgery, here's a permanent spot each week for noting the time his TVG segment will air. Many have asked. Also included is the link to his blog written each week giving notes and TimeformUS figures assigned.

Just posted at TVG is this week's review.

https://www.tvg.com/blog/2015/03/24/...ek-march-22nd/

Triple Crown preps are getting deeper with big days at Fairgrounds and Gulfstream on tap for this weekend. More to come next weekend.

I asked CJ if he could provide a schedule of his appearances so I could just set the DVR....
At least this gives a recap....So due to his eye surgery, no appearance this week?
Thanks grits!

Grits 03-25-2015 11:15 AM

Cj's TimeformUS segment at TVG will air about an hour from now at 12:10 EDT with Britney and Nick.

Spaah, so yes, things go as scheduled today, maybe set your DVR going forward.

(And print the prep races speed/pace figure chart posted here. Good material.) ;)

Any chance TVG can post these segments on youtube? They only have one but it shouldn't be hard for them. Even if it was done of their web page I'm sure it would get more hits than almost anything else they post except those that have the word "free".

Thanks for posting.

Sort of like the Goods News - Bad News format.

Optimistic View: Though a slow race, Moreno was wide on both turns through solid fractions.

Realistic View: This was a slow race for G2 older males; downgrade entire race

Grits 04-01-2015 11:13 AM

Segment will air at TVG just after 12 noon with Cj, Matt and Christina.

Go to link below for latest update of TFUS Triple Crown prep pace/speed figures. This past weekend's preps are added.

I'm back seeing well, PRK surgery went great, just took some time and a rough first week. Thanks for all the nice words, lots of great races coming up and look forward to talking about them in coming weeks.

Feel free to ask any questions you have here as well about the show or the figures.

Secondbest 04-01-2015 01:50 PM

That was a cool tweet from Larry.

If your buddy's wife is tweeting from the Tornado shelter, they're ok.....

This one paid some dividends at Keeneland just now:

Quote:

G2 San Carlos Stakes Dirt 7 Furlongs 4yo+

Top 3: Wild Dude 107, Kobe’s Back 111, Conquest Two Step 108
Pace: Very Slow
Noteworthy: Winner awarded only third best TimeformUS Speed Figure in the race
Upgrade: Kobe’s Back made a huge late run despite slow pace in first start off layoff
Downgrade: Wild Dude ran well below average for G2, benefitted from pace

Not only did Kobe's back have the best last race figure in the Commonwealth, he earned it under adverse circumstances. Nice win today paying $7.60.

Wild Dude was beaten handily in the Carter today as well.

Enjoyed the segment. Good way to illustrate how your TFUS figures work in the prep races we are all following and hoping to find some angles for the Derby.

cj 04-08-2015 10:53 AM

I'll be on around 12:20 ET, 9:20 PT with Simon and Todd today.

Grits 04-08-2015 12:40 PM

Good segment. Though I felt the wind go out of Todd's sails when you weren't so greatly impressed with Carpe Diem's performance. Todd loves all things Keeneland, of course.

Teaching moments. Christina asked you two excellent questions about the figures last week while on air. Todd asked you, today, after learning your opinion on CD, "what kind of TFUS number does it take to win the Derby?" (paraphrased) .... Anyway, teaching moments are always a good thing. You did good work.

Thanks...I try to look at these races as a bettor, not as a cheerleader. Of course Carpe Diem can win, but he isn't one of my favorites.

Grits 04-12-2015 08:43 AM

Cj and Elsie have been on hand for Arkansas Derby weekend along with 67,000 others. And, with some fine photos added. ;) In advance of this week's TFUS review and blog...American Pharoah's performance is in the books.

G1 Arkansas Derby, TImeformUS Pace/Speed Figures:

American Pharoah 113, Far Right 101, Mr. Z 104

1/2 136
3/4 120
