A couple of movie recommendations

Saw two movies recently...both were excellent.

Knives Out - didn't think I'd see this one based on the trailer, but my dad told me it was very good and I agree. Nothing absolutely incredible, just a very entertaining "who done it" with a surprisingly good cast.

JoJo Rabbit - went into this one not really knowing what to expect, and came away thinking it was the best movie I'd seen in a really long time. VERY well done...a truly original take on a topic that has been covered in an infinite number of ways to date. A must see in my book.

Yes very entertaining although they did not do much to hide the plot, only to the investigators on screen..Difficult at times to forget James Bond but his voice is NOTHING like it in this one.

I saw Knives Out, mainly because I am a big fan of Ana de Armas. I am glad she had a bigger part and will probably be an Oscar nominee sometime during next 10 years. Knives Out had mixed reviews and it was a rather interesting whodunit, with many twists and turns.

I missed JoJo Rabbit, but see it is on Netflix DVD so will see it next week. I also see Knives Out will be on Netflix DVD in 2 weeks.

The Pharmacist

Netflix documentary..The Pharmacist. Great documentary on the Oxycontin crisis. I really had no idea how bad this is. It really goes deep into Purdue Pharma and the big money this generated, at the cost of destroying people. Going through knee surgery and some painful complications that arose. I understand after watching this, how I was stonewalled in getting pain medication. Lot's of big money going around. Great documentary. It really opened my naive eyes.

Also complicit are are the CONS, who dolled out this dangerous medication for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

One does NOT get schedule II drugs without a bona fide prescription (a TRIPLICATE one as well)

Knives Out, I wish I waited until it made it to showtime or HBO.

Midway, I rented from Redbox tonight and really enjoyed it.

finally got around to seeing Jojo Rabbit. I give it a mixed review as there were some very disturbing parts that I do not feel were very funny.

It got an academy award for best adapted screenplay. Now I might have to read the book it was based on (Caging Skies).

Just watched "A Quiet Place". Best movie I'd seen since "Get Out!",if you like thrillers.

Well, it wasn't a comedy in the vein of the producers...where everything was supposed to be funny.

That's what made it great IMO. It treated the subject matter quite seriously when called for. It's one of the only movies I can remember that made me both laugh and cry...

Throwback film, perfect for those of you who are feeling impending doom (albeit from another cause): 1959's "On The Beach" with Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, and Fred Astaire.

Just by coincidence I have it queued and was going to watch last night (decided on selections from the Great Courses and Paul Krugman's Masterclass). Will be watching soon, maybe tonight, it is a little long.

Two nights ago finally watched On Golden Pond. That was a real nice movie. Such nice scenery. I want to spend summers on that lake in New Hampshire.

On Golden Pond is one of those forgotten movies. Winner of three Oscars .
