I contend most people wearing them believe they are protecting themselves and could care less that they were supposed to protect other people. I constantly see people still wearing them driving alone or walking outside alone far from other people. I saw a guy yesterday wearing one while riding a motorcycle. It is freaking 95 outside and a dude on a bike has a mask under his full face helmet. I noticed the mask because he removed his helmet while getting gas. I used to ride, on a hot day wearing a full face helmet is like having your head in an oven, then you put a breathing restricting mask on? Must be a joy to be that germophobic.

The masked guy on the bike is infected with the pandemic -- the pandemic of fear, panic and hysteria. This is the kinda guy who basically reasons: "I have but one life to live and I will do whatever it takes to protect it." No matter, of course, how irrational his premise might be. Liking him to a germophobic is a perfect analogy.

I don't wear a mask...but I can't find a valid reason to mock those who do.

The bible teaches far more than mere "tolerance". We are told to not just "tolerate" our enemies...but to LOVE them! But, of course...you might have missed this insignificant tidbit.

woodtoo 07-19-2021 02:33 PM

This morning I watched my neighbor walk out of his house with his mask on and get into his car and drive by with it still on.

They are just beginning to ease restrictions here, I believe some young and old will never be able to give them up. To some it has become a fashion statement.

There is one young girl about 16 who visits my next door neighbors son she wears a furry cat mask and a fluffy tail, I have never seen her without this get up. Maybe she lost a bet.:D

Just mocking the obvious germophobes. I used to work with one in a large manufacturing facility. The guy would put a rag around his hand when I handed him his paycheck. He would spray disinfectant on his tools before putting them back in his tool box. If he had to pass by a group of people closely he would hold his breath. The guy was pure entertainment. The funny thing he was out sick just as often as anyone else. I wonder what that guy is doing in the age of Covid. I bet he wears a hazmat suit outside his home.

PaceAdvantage 07-19-2021 02:41 PM

Then again, even before COVID, there were always people who were germaphobes.

My mother used to be one of them. So much so, it probably killed her, ironically.

It's not nice to make fun of people with mental illness.

You're right. It's easier to understand and sympathize with such people. On the other hand, not so much with people who think they're "normal", yet rationalize their irrational actions. In other words, these latter types attribute rational and creditable motives to their actions without critical analysis of their true motives -- even their unconscious ones.

For the record, I do not mock or ridicule people who use masks because they believe those masks are actually protecting them. If grown adults want to choose a harmful path, who am I to interfere with their personal life? However, I do feel anger over grown adults making their little children wear masks because study after study has shown that face diapers are really not good for youngsters. So...parents who don't do their homework and force their kids to mask up are, in my book, abusing their kids in more ways than one.

Sorry to hear than, anytime I see that behavior I remember the guy who I supervised. He was a major PITA outside his odd behavior. If I never worked with the guy I probably wouldn't even notice germophobic behavior.

Yeah...well...words have meanings, you know?

Someday read Jn 8:1-11 and then ponder why Jesus commanded the woman to leave her life of sin. A "tolerant" person would never tell another how to live their life. A "tolerant" person would never tell another person to change their entire lifestyle.

It's true what this article says about social media companies trying to hide the science that showed that masks didn't work. There was a very thorough study on the internet last spring that disappeared once the CDC decided to mask us up. The study showed that a coronavirus passed through the masks easily and completely, except for the N95/99 masks, which did pretty good.

True and I see only about 1% wearing the N95 masks.

Fauci: CDC Looking at Changing Mask Guidelines for Vaccinated People

This is the Bad News. But the Really Bad News is that Flip Flop Fear Fascist Fuhrer Fauci had this say in its defense (Big Drum Roll, please)....

During the Sunday interview, Fauci didn’t provide a specific reason why vaccinated people should wear masks.

However...there is a very small glimmer of light that came out of Basio's mouth:

Some officials, including New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, said that the reimposition of mask-wearing would cause people to develop a lack of confidence in COVID-19 vaccines and would question why both should be required.

Ya think?

I don't understand.

Shouldn't the SCIENCE be DEFINITIVE when it comes to MASKS and VACCINATED FOLKS?

Are we living in the 1700s or 2021?

rastajenk 07-25-2021 06:19 PM

I've always thought a serious blood-letting was the go-to first step in most matters of virology.

The science is pretty definitive. As usual, however, the science is politicized and is being used as a weapon.

Dan Crenshaw Tweets Stunning Revelation on New CDC Mask Guidelines

On Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced a new mask guideline for students, teachers, and staff in K-12 to wear masks regardless of vaccination status, as well as in certain indoor settings, again, also regardless of vaccination status. The move was met with swift criticism, especially and including from former President Donald Trump. Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), though, takes issue with the data used to justify the new guidelines.

Jen Psaki crumples when Fox News reporter grills her about face masks for vaccinated people

Gotta love it! :bang::bang: No freakin' answer -- except basically to say because the CDC said so -- with zero data to support or justify the CDC's "determination". In other words, the new CDC guidelines is grounded in circular reasoning.

Here's how Psaki finally attempted to justify the new guidelines:

Doocy asked again, "But if the vaccines work, which this sign says that they do, then why do people who had the vaccine need to now wear masks — the same as people who have not had it?"

This time Psaki essentially deflected to "because we said so."

"Because the public health leaders in our administration have made the determination, based on data, that that is a way to make sure they're protected, their loved ones are protected," she told Doocy. "And that's an extra step, given the transmissibility of the virus, that people — that they're advising people to take." (emphasis mine)

https://www.theblaze.com/news/jen-ps...e%20Daily%20AM

What data!? Show us the data!

Of course, the article goes on to point out that the CDC itself elaborated a little bit more with it's "explanation".

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky provided a better explanation Tuesday as to why the CDC is — yet again — reversing course.

While she reaffirmed the overwhelming majority of COVID-19 cases are among the unvaccinated, she explained that studies show vaccinated people carry a significant viral load of COVID-19 variant in their nose and airway, enough to infect other people.

So non-medical masks are going to prohibit the transmission of this "viral overload"?

"Their loved ones..." :pound::pound::pound::pound:

As if this administration, OR ANY administration, cares about "loved ones."

The fact that they still allow cigarettes to be sold on almost every street corner says otherwise.

This is, and always has been, about ONE THING. As the GOAT says over and over, it's all about POWER and CONTROL.

They don't care about American "loved ones" who are being exposed to covid by illegals going into communities all over the country.

Talking about which...just read a headline to a story that says several commercial airlines are flying Africans into this country at no charge. I wonder if any of them tested positive for covid.

The UK probably had the right idea about COVID from the start (before they were quickly CUCKED into SUBMISSION)

Herd immunity would have been achieved much faster...and we probably would have lost about the same amount of people that we did by ****ing everything up all over the world.

But then Pfizer wouldn't have been able to sell BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of dollars worth of vaccines...oh well.

Tom 07-29-2021 06:45 PM

CDC new mask rules are based on a single, small study, non -peer reviewed, that deals solely with one unapproved vaccine, never used in the US. And the conclusion reached about wearing masks even if vaccinated referred only if you were in a covid hot spot.

SCIENCE. Don't try this at home.

In a lot of instances science is nothing but theory, as in educated guesses. I find it amazing how people used to rave over how intelligent Stephen Hawking was. He made countless claims that could be neither proved or disproved. Most of his theories were just another episode of fun with numbers.

46zilzal 08-04-2021 08:03 PM

All this was inspired by the principle – which is quite true within itself – that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.

It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.
