Pick six

If you only had 20$ to play the pick six what kind of ticket would you make out.

Robert Fischer 12-06-2007 06:52 PM

the wise guy answer = "a bus ticket" or "a time card!"

seriously if I had to I would go four legs with 2 contenders, a single somewhere , and a single in the last leg such as 2*2*2*1*2*1 =$16

Tom Barrister 12-06-2007 07:27 PM

Most pick sixes are a minimum $2 bet, so that would leave 10 combinations.

I would probably try a 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 2 x 5.

Another idea would be 1x1x1x2x2x2 and two more singles.

Right :bang:

I would have to use 2x2x2x1x1x1 with a single on the favorite in the last and the other singles where best needed.

cnollfan 12-06-2007 08:40 PM

I would probably use four singles and then 3 x 3 or 4 x 2 in the other races. Then I would pick my top horse out of the spread-out races as singles, and throw in a substitute or two in one of my original singles races.

Just because I was undercapitalized doesn't mean I would bet all chalk. I'd still look for a race or two where I didn't like the favorite and I'd make sure to leave those favorites off all my tickets. There's no room for lukewarm favorites on a $20 pick 6 ticket.

Have hit for $32 and for $48. Good handicapping and better luck.

1X1X2X2X2X2
1X1X2X2X2X3

things have to set up for a ticket like that, most pick 6 sequences don't. What really helps, is if I find evidence of a possible bias early in the card. Nothing helps more with bold play that will carry successfully through a 6 race sequence using few horses. Most days and most cards just aren't like that.

BEST WAY TO BET $20 IN PICK 6

USE TWO SINGLES AND ONE RACE USE TWO HORSE (A DOUBLE) AND SELECT THREE HORSES IN THREE RACES. BET 5 TICKETS AND HAVE A DOUBLE AND TWO SINGLES IN EACH TICKET FOR A TOTAL OF $20 ( $2. COMBINATIONS )

EXAMPLE SELECT 123 IN LEG 4, 456 IN LEG 5 AND 789 IN LEG 6

SINGLE SINGLE DOUBLE 1 4 8
SINGLE SINGLE DOUBLE 2 4 7
SINGLE SINGLE DOUBLE 2 5 8
SINGLE SINGLE DOUBLE 1 5 7
SINGLE SINGLE DOUBLE 3 6 9

THIS EXAMPLE WILL GIVE YOU 5/6 GUARANTEED IF YOU GET THE TWO SINGLES CORRECT AND ONE OF THE TWO DOUBLES CORRECT AND GET EACH OF THE LAST THREE RACES CORRECT USING 3 HORSES IN EACH RACE.

THIS WILL GIVE YOU THE BIGGEST BANG FOR THE BUCK.

GOOK LUCK

MORE ON PICK 6 PLAY FOR $20

THIS FORMULA GIVES A PERSON A ONE CHANCE IN 5.4 OF GETTING A 6 OF 6 PICK SIX HIT. THIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN THE FORMULA THAT IS SO COMMON ON THE NET AND ON THE RACING DIGEST EACH DAY- THREE HORSES IN FOUR RACES AND TWO SINGLES. THE $18 FORMULA GIVE A PERSON A ONE CHANCE IN 9 OF GETTING A 6 OF 6 PICK SIX HIT. SO MY $20 PLAY IS QUITE A BIT BETTER THAN THE COMMON 3X3X3X3X1X1 PLAY. ONE CHANCE IN 5.4 COMPARED TO ONE CHANCE IN 9 FOR THE COMMON PLAY FOR A PICK SIX HIT.

I think a $20 pick6 ticket budget is a real tough nut to crack. On any given day, any of the above approaches might make sense, However, I don't think any would yeild very good results on a consistent basis.

I personally feel the pick6 principles in Steve Crist's Exotic Betting book are very helpful.

On the downside, since I have really started practicing with the pick6 I have pretty much stopped playing completely. I can rarely get any level of comfort with under $400. Personally, I will keep practicing and playing only carryover pools when I have a good feel for the sequence.
