During the 1987 bear market the WSJ ran a cartoon with the caption: This is what you call an institutional market. Anyone that invests in it belongs in an institution.

The cartoon drew numerous complaints in Letters to Editor from brokerage houses.

If The Wall Street Journal is reading this maybe, they should run that cartoon again.

Nancy Pelosi is one of the greatest stock timers of all time, she has been doing this for years. this one might be the greatest one of her career, and she probably got it with the help of a very unsuspected ally, the governor from Florida, Ron Desantis. you see Disney has a self acting governing body called The Reedy Creek Improvement District which allowed Disney to have special power and tax advantages in Florida for decades. but recently Desantis basically destroyed Disney's own governemnt operation and forced them to fall in line and be overseen by a special board. Nancy sold $1 million worth of Disney stock 2 days before Desantis announced the changes. Nancy seems to have great timeing!

In about a 3hr period from 2am to 5am, S&P futures slid from 3950 to 3900 and back again to 3950...but if you look at CNBC right now, you'd never know this happened...:lol::lol::lol:

Not even mentioned in their "LIVE" section with updated commentary every time "something happens"

What would cause this decline and what are the reasons behind it?

100% technical. Just my opinion based on home grown stuff.

i totally agree, but i don't think the big decline comes before S+P price breaks all time highs. i would be looking for over a 50% decline off the top, which would be pretty bad because of the recent steep upturn in inflation. i am also including precious metals in the skid, just maybe not as much of a decline.

since 1999, not including this year, the Dow has gone up in 17 years and down in 6 years

this strong upward historical movement is also reflected in the S&P 500

that's a very strong indication of the strength of the market as a whole

this very interesting link tracks investor sentiment towards the future

according to it:

51.4% are now bullish - 27.1% are neutral - and 21.5% are bearish

of course, the bulls could be wrong - but I don't believe this is meaningless - it has some value imo
