Risen Star Stakes PPs

I will stupidly bet the :2: Roiland back because I believe he is better than his last race and I'm stubborn. Limonite coming off the layoff for the Ass Man should be live. I hope the Baffert entry actually runs here as I guarantee he will ensure a fair pace. WoW drawing post 14 sucks. I'm guessing he will see more pace pressure in this race and has the danger of being hung wide or forced to rate. Should be an interesting race.

Quick glance and early thoughts are,

:12: Frolic More

:13: Kingly

:4: Chase the Ghost

:5: Henley's Joy

:6: Hog Creek Hustle

:9: Country House

:10: Limonite

Wait to see the odds, and scratches.

I'll go with :9: Country House. He's got the the talent to beat :14: War of Will. My only concern is the large field, which tends to hurt closers because of traffic.

Baffert horses are not going to this or any races on the card, just an FYI, saw that on DRF

Tough race, and while I've been close, I have yet to really pin one of these preps. Breeders Cup class and/or Buckpasser-x have been winning most of the preps.

Buckpasser-x: :5::6::7::8::12:
Breeders Cup: :3::5::14:

The :3: stayed relatively close to the front of a hot BCJ pace before fading late. He could be dangerous if left alone up front. He holds the second Bris prime power spot. The :5: looks more bred for grass but will appreciate an extra half panel and has room to improve with surface change. He also holds the top Bris prime power spot. The :14: won the Lecomte decisively but faces stiffer competition from a less advantageous post this time. He holds the third Bris prime power spot.

I'll exacta box the :3::5::14: trio and consider win bets on :3::5:.

Sounds like he doesn't want to ship them cuz he's a sore loser over post position draw. Of course, the article wisely doesn't accuse that out right.

he is used to those 4-5 horse fields where derby/oaks points are guaranteed

jocko699 02-11-2019 09:12 PM

I believe Plus Que Parfait will race big. Big post relief and 2nd race back.

Fightingirish51195 02-12-2019 09:59 AM

I’ll have a tough time not using country house on top

letswastemoney 02-12-2019 08:21 PM

The morning line is bad. :9: Country House will fall below 10-1...maybe 5-1 is more accurate. I still like him at those odds though.

War of Will over Limonite ice cold exacta

Dunph and Kingly look decent, but also have some risk of not securing a good enough first turn. Price is key on Kingly.

Manny Wah is somewhat interesting as a big number vertical exotic filler. Has some probability to work a trip up front.

Not ready to take face-value on Country House yet, but he looks gorgeous. Jaw-dropping MSW at Gulfstream. His Aqueduct try was flattered by Kentucky Wildcat's big performance Saturday. If I play, he will either beat me or be part of a grouping that I use. The fan in me will root for him.

Owendale is probably too cheap, but I'll watch his races. Sharp local.

Maybe I'll have a roux to complete my gumbo?

Robert Fischer 02-12-2019 10:47 PM

Kingly scratched

Interesting race, 14 runners, 70 races to look at.
1 wire job in the whole group.
Only the :7:, :12:, :14: and :15: have been in the lead or with in a neck of the lead at the first two calls of any of their races. The :7: got the only win.

The :3: was within 2 lengths of Game Winner and Knicks Go in the BC, before fading. But that is the best race pace wise in the group. May be he tries to steal this one on the front.

I think getting the pace right in this race is the key.
