Teaching moments. Christina asked you two excellent questions about the figures last week while on air. Todd asked you, today, after learning your opinion on CD, "what kind of TFUS number does it take to win the Derby?" (paraphrased) .... Anyway, teaching moments are always a good thing. You did good work.

Thanks...I try to look at these races as a bettor, not as a cheerleader. Of course Carpe Diem can win, but he isn't one of my favorites.

She's always been very nice to me.
Appearing around 12:10 ET or so with Paul and Britney to discuss the Oaks. We'll touch on the Derby a little, but I'll do another spot on Friday or Saturday after the draw.
|
I'll be doing a Derby spot sometime after 11:30 ET / 8:30 PT tomorrow on TVG, during that hour. I'll post more as I know more. Please tune in if you get a chance!

I agree with your probable winner, but if Dortmund misses the start and gets stuck in the middle he doesn't look as good to me. If he doesn't clear to the lead, but does get a decent position 3 or more wide in the turn, he should be ok.
AP just doesn't impress me, on numbers (velocities), so if he is going to go out early he'll have to show me better velocities than he has thus far, and if he does, that may not bode well for him later. Firing Line may be the best bet of the top contenders, as he will be outside early and out of the kickback possibly, which appears to me to be quite excessive, from watching the undercard so far. Bayern got a bad start in the 9th, was stuck in the middle of all that stuff, and did not like it a bit. Maybe he was just rusty and not in top form but that kickback looked really bad to me.

Weekly article, stuck to the Oaks in Derby this week with more detail than usual. I'll be on at some point today I think, probably just after noon.

Curious what people think about my Derby pace analysis, not a popular one from what I've seen post race. The gist of my take---why do we expect the leaders in the Derby to set unrealistic fractions?
