Those programs have been around since the 1950’s.

None of them are here illegally. All of them have a financial sponsor. They have all been heavily vetted. They pay their own way. Many times the purpose is to reunite families.

What this does is allow the US government to vet people who are seeking safety or visiting relatives and forego the chaos at the border. These people would have been permitted entry through a port of entry.
