Shooting at Club Hípico de Santiago

There was a shooting at Club Hípico de Santiago race track in Santiago Chile Friday night that left two people injured. It occurred after the 17th race. There is actually a video of the incident floating around on the internet. But posting it here seemed in bad taste.

That’s bad for business

I would be inclined to agree. Lol

Most people are tapped out by the 17th race. Should have pawned the gun instead of trying to rob someone.

I watched the video. Not sure what started it but looked like a fight that escalated and grew in the number of people involved. It wasn't a robbery or anything like that.

I looked at the tape and the shooter seemed to be 1 of a three person group that was arguing with a 6(?) person group & had actually walked about 20 feet away. The larger group grew to maybe 12 or more & were pursuing them. if (big if) I'm viewing this correctly in most of the US the shooting would have justified as self defense against imminent death or bodily harm.

At any rate this is just another reason to bet with an ADW and not to visit the track. :)

Is that why they are cancelled today?

Seventeen races is pretty extreme. I am wondering if there were 17 races live or part of a semi simulcast schedule. I called closing day at Lone Star in 2002 and they ran 14 races that afternoon and I was ready to shoot someone after the 13th.

They've been known to run 17 live races...
