Will Someone Please Explain Brexit to Me

Here is what I know:

People voted. Get out of the European Union. (I have no opinion one way or the other.)

Now all I see are endless headlines about what to do about Brexit.

Are they getting out or not? Why not? Why the debate. What's taking so long? What's going on?

Theresa May is in the news every damn day.

No links. In 25 words or less can someone please sum up what's going on?

Thank you.

After WWII the EU formed. They all agreed to share and be great.

UK has become better and tired of the leeches feeding off them.

This is VOX, but is does do a solid job of a longer very simple explanation with cartoons and all.

The deep state does not like the idea, regardless of how people voted. They are negotiating with EU for all the liabilities with no benefits.

Tariffs imposed if not inside the EU and the EU standards are not met, like a toaster needs to have a feature. If missing that feature it can't be sold into the EU, other things put high tariffs on cars to protect German cars from competition. It is like a little club you got to be in or your taxed. I suspect they do much better than we do with cheep shit from China. The facets not likely fit into one post but several.

The EU is a trade and customs federation. The UK voted to leave it to handle its customs but still wants all the Trade Benefits.

That's 25.

What is going on is the "how" to leave the EU. With or without an agreement on trade issues. Of course some politicians are using the debate to block Brexit, as they do not want to leave the union. Do I lose credit for using more than 25 words?

Northern Ireland

The border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland has every chance
of reverting back to gangster turf again. Years of relative peace down the drain.

We have a winner.

The globalist swine that want to centralize power, eliminate freedom, and dictate down to all of us don't like the idea of some countries wanting to be free of centralized rule or sustaining their own unique culture.

That's why they are flooding the world with illegal immigrants and panicking over Brexit.

Impossible to explain in 25 words but I'll have a go.

Despicable, lying, charlatans like Boris Johnson who conned the UK public into voting for Brexit now chopping and changing sides for their own self interest.

Sorry in order to keep it to 25 words wasn't able to include they cheated and broke election law.

Yes, because leaving without a deal will probably mean having to have a hard border with customs and immigration checks. Something that goes against the Good Friday agreement which has brought peace to the region. This is what much of the argument over May's deal is about.

Show Me the Wire 03-29-2019 06:22 PM

The Good Friday agreement to bring peace to Northern Ireland will continue to apply in all Brexit scenarios, the European Union’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier said on Wednesday.

Respecting the Good Friday agreement meant preventing the return of a hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland, he told the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

“In all scenarios, the Good Friday agreement will continue to apply. The United Kingdom will remain a core guarantor of that agreement and is expected to uphold it in spirit and in letter,” he said.
