As a non-Twitter user I have no idea if this is a good thing. I have but one question, should we care?

If they stay with it, Twitter is a cesspool but it’s also a fantastic way to get news and spread info quickly.

There are companies who use it to direct their daily activities, update sales people etc. but that’s few and far between. Doubling the size of a tweet may allow much more functionality.

I think they should charge for the extra length

How is that any better than email? I'm another horse and buggy guy that has never used Twitter.

It’s immediate. Email is not. No server to maintain etc

You can set your phone for instant notifications etc

All it takes is a basic phone on a cell net to tweet.

Instant access to pics and video

Lots of news events have been tweeted almost live.

Including the raid on Usama bin Ladin.

You can do instant polls and surveys

Hashtags narrow your target audience and subjects

It’s free.

There’s more.........but I’ll stop.

It should be a subscription service to weed out the scum. It would make money if it was by subscription.

twitter a great idea (really a ripoff of irc) but handled badly from day 1

no attempt made to limit fraudulent accounts. lots of spam

but still useful, if obnoxious
