No more dunking in the NFL

Aw c'mon Roger - you are a humorless curmudgeon. You remind me of Estelle Costanza from Seinfeld :faint:

15yd penalty for dunking the ball over the goalposts.
Pretty soon the players will have to issue an apology to the opposing team and their fans immediately upon scoring a TD.

he may be the most overpaid person in history.

please, don't ruin the playoffs by adding more teams.

please, no more hokey london games or silly talk of a london team.

please, no more goofy rule changes.............

After you've seen it a hundred times.....

it's been getting old for some time now.

The question is, what will be the variation on it for celebrating?
We all know that the ball will not be calmly tossed to the officials after a TD.

The 15 yard penalty on the kickoff will actually cause....wait for it....a KICK RETURN!

Times change, that was 50 years ago.

Another asinine move...

PhantomOnTour 03-25-2014 11:00 PM

My problem with the rule is that dunking the ball over the goalpost isn't an "in your face" move. It's not a dance number choreographed and performed by two different players, and it's not meant to humiliate a beaten opponent or rile up opposing fans.
It's as innocent and innocuous as a celebration can be, for Chrissakes.

Beware Lambeau Leapers - your days are numbered

The rule has been in place for years- the football cannot be a part of the celebration of a TD. The NFL has decided to enforce that rule.

IMO- you score a TD; that's what you are paid to do- move on !

So you can't even spike the ball?

rastajenk 03-26-2014 08:25 AM

What about a graceful, polite layup with a finger roll? It's not a dunk; would that be a penal offense, too?

Vince had it right. I want to see football, not some jerk showing off when he finally catches one after dropping 4.

I would guess not, but that was not addressed to my knowledge.
