4NJbets news...
According to Meadowlands Director of Racing Darin Zoccali, TVG will be taking over control of 4NJbets beginning March 1st. It was on his Twitter account. Anyone hear anything about this or familiar with TVG as an ADW? Am I about to become inundated with TVG talent picks? :D

i know they charge a .25 cent per wager fee, deposit fees and limited video streaming but you get the behind the wall "talent" picks!(LOL) |

If this is indeed true about TVG taking over, are we to assume that there is no way around their .25 fee?
What about Big M Club wagering and points earned? Will that program continue or be shut down?

I just wrote to a few NJ sources. The new "vig" will be either 25 cents per bet or $19.95 per month.
If 4njbets account holders protest they might get a clue, if not you can expect this to be like EZpass where each year they will just increase the fee.
We already pay a vig of 4.5% to deposit and gas and tolls to withdraw. The $240 a year isn't going to send me into poverty, but the whole point of being charged to do it rubs me the wrong way! :mad:

Got confirmation that this is happening and Account holders will be notified in the coming days.
Perhaps for Valentines Day we can all bend over for NJ? :mad:
The funniest thing is that casino gaming is coming on-line in NJ for free. Some dismiss it as coincidence.

Without addressing the "legality" from the State of New Jersey's perspective of NJ residents placing horse racing wagers through entities other than njbets, I can say with authority that any NJ resident can open a NYRA Rewards account and bet with live operators at full track odds and with no surcharge of any kind. The only thing NYRA Rewards will not let a Jersey resident account holder do is wager online. It's blocked, for legal reasons. But as far as they are concerened, it is perfectly legal for them to offer phone account wagering to NJ residents.
Personally, I'd rather bet with a live operator anyway. You still have online access to your account balance, your past wagering records, live video, replays, results, tote....the whole nine yards. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that NYRA rewards has the best "comp" schedule in the business, excluding the off shore operations of course.
So there is no reason for any NJ horseplayer to endure this latest kick in the pants from those who decided to hand over njbets to TVG and their fee based nonsense.

How do you sign up?
I noticed that the on-line sign up for a NYRA rewards account has a drop-down menu in the state field for only NY and CT. Do NJ residents have to sign up via phone? It seems that even if you have to bet via phone, I guess you might have to sign up that way too. Any info?

You could call NYRA Rewards and they would probably mail or fax you a phone account application. Obviously a visit to AQU would work as well.

Currently only New York and Connecticut residents can wager over the phone with a NYRA Rewards account. New Jersey residents can sign-up and wager with an account on-track but are not allowed to wager over the phone when not in New York and will only have access to account balance, points, and live streaming video when logged into their NYRA Rewards account online. |

Just to clarify one thing, if you make a deposit at a racetrack, it's free to do so, no fees or charges. You would have to pay for gas, obviously, but I've been depositing money at Freehold for years with no charges. I wanted to mention that for those outside the state who don't know. If you send them the money through a credit card, there may be a fee there.
I'm pissed off about these BS fees. Sure, it's not a ton of money, but we should not have to pay for the privilege of wagering. I'd already curtailed my wagering due to life circumstances and lack of time (marriage, family). Since 4njbets was where I did the large majority of my wagering, this makes me consider giving it up altogether. |
