Donate and become a VIP!

PaceAdvantage.com is now accepting member donations via PayPal. We will never require that a member donate, but thought it might be a good way for members to let us know they appreciate the man-hours and resources involved in keeping a website of this size running smoothly while expanding into the future.

Donations are tracked on a monthly basis and VIP status will expire after a period of one month. For example, if you donate on March 4th, your VIP status will be valid through April 5th and expire sometime on April 6th.

Current VIPs will enjoy the following benefits:

-A snazzy VIP badge next to their user name!
-Exclusive handicapping contests with cash prizes (paid via PayPal) - only for VIPs!
-Access to the VIP-only subforum!
-Access to exclusive VIP-only Amazon.com Promo Codes - save money on selected products!
-Access to my proven Value Races & Horses selections!

Please allow 24-48 hours for your VIP-access to be granted after donation, although we'll strive to process it ASAP.

THANK YOU!

Anonymous donations: If you are not logged into the message board when you donate, your donation will be anonymous and you will not receive VIP status, but your generosity will be appreciated just the same!

If I used pay pal I would donate just to enter the contests....and since the pay outs are also done so for winning the contests I can not join....but just how much does it cost to operate a good site as this ? I understand there are so called free sites one can set up a blog etc...but then be charged to upgrade once one has x amount of patrons or members...:6::coffee:thanks for your site ...

We haven't had any contests in a while. That will change soon.

As for how much it costs to run a site like this...that depends. You can be hosted on a shared server for not too much money a month but it will be slow with the kind of traffic I get and will likely turn away viewers with the sluggish performance. Or you can do what I did and get a dedicated server with fairly recent hardware. Or you can host it yourself if you have an internet provider that will let you get away with that (most or all won't, in which case you'd have to upgrade to one of their business packages etc).

You can spend anywhere from probably $30-$40 per month up to hundreds of dollars per month to host a site like this...depends on the level of performance and level of service you want from your hosting provider.

Is it possible to set up an account that will automatically debit my card by $2 or whatever every month?

Memory loss has been an extremely serious problem for me ever since I hit my head at a trolley stop in San Francisco in December of 2014, leading to a two-month stay in the hospital, the first 32 days in a medically-induced coma.

This led to my getting approved for disability in 2019.

Let me know what I need to do.

Sorry to hear about your injury. A lot of people had asked for this kind of thing in the beginning, so I'll look into it again. Thanks for the suggestion.

What can I say? I'm on a roll today! :D

And while we're on the subject of suggestions, how about adding the icons for saddle towels 21 through 24?

"When you check out my Derby SpaceSheet 3.0 on the right sidebar of this website, you'll notice that the first few columns are dedicated to the post positions and the number of winners each post has produced over the past 42 years of the big race.

In 2012, four more numbers will be added to the mix, although a horse may not run as an also-eligible out of posts 21 through 24, unless one of the 20 qualifying horses happens to scratch after the draw.

The four also-eligible positions were announced in December of last year in efforts to provide a full field of 20 horses in the event of a scratch prior to 9 a.m. on Oaks Day. That time is significant as that is when betting on the Kentucky Derby is open to the public.

Which post has produced the most Derby winners in the last 42 years, you ask? Post position 10 has produced seven (7) winners as the leading post, and post position 4 is the runner-up with six (6)winners, followed by posts 2, 3 and 12, all with four wins. Which are the worst posts? Posts 14, 17 and 19 have not produced a winner in the past 42 years, so you may want to stay away from those!

Yesterday, while planning for this post, I was curious as to the saddle cloth colors for the four additional post positions, so I e-mailed Darren Rogers, Senior Director of Communications at Churchill Downs who was quick to respond with a link to the colors, PMS numbers and the color of the number on the saddle cloth, too!

So here are the colors for numbers 21-24:

#21 Lavender (with navy numerals)
#22 Postal Blue (with white numerals)
#23 Seafoam (with dark green numerals)
#24 Olivez (with white numerals)

So, there you have it. What will 2012's winning colors be?"
