Just further evidence the baseballs have been juiced this year. Not that we needed any more.

Born in Philly. Lived in the King of Prussia area up until about the age of ten. Been a Phillies fan since the days of Jim Bunning and Richie Allen.

Somehow being a Phillies fan gets in the blood and stays there... no matter how many times they let you down. :headbanger:

He was 0 - 10 with 4 ks when he came up for home games against the Mets. Then he scratched a single in the 4th game to end up 1 for 13. Not looking good in front of the home crowd.

But I guess he was just nervous. He went on a tear ion the west coast where half of Philly fans are asleep -- and continued on fire when he came home.

Yesterday he tied the WORLD RECORD for home runs in 8 consecutive games held by Dale Long, Don Mattingly and Dale Long.

The eyes of the baseball world will be on him tonight. It would be an amazing record to break by a rookie.

Hoskins is 3-3 with a single, double, and homer when he's hit by pitch in his 4th at bat and pulled from the game.

Comcast says tests on the arm came back negative though so looks like he's going to be ok!!

Matt Olson at a pace even better than Hoskins; 14 home runs in his last 20 games.

It's been crazy this year. First it was Judge, then Bellinger, then Hoskins, and now Olson. MLB has to correct the flaw with the baseballs. They plead ignorance but this is what they wanted.

The juiced ball was clear from the beginning of the season as outfielders generally underestimated the flight of the ball and were always drifting back to catch it at the last instance.

An interesting conversation in the Mets booth last night. They suggested raising the mound. It had been lowered years ago to add offense. Ron Darling also suggested that raising the mound might also reduce the number of arm injuries.

The obsession with pitch velocity has contributed to more of the 3 outcomes (strikeouts, walks & home runs) scenario as well as more foul balls and injuries.

I'd love to see a velocity limit of 95 MPH. Any pitch above is a ball (unless the outcome is better). You'd see a much faster moving game, and more interesting with less injuries.

you gotta be kidding, the time it would take would add more time to drawn out game and then you penalize a guy for throwing 100 mph.moronic idea.

Apparently you like what the game has evolved into: an endless parade of strikeouts, walks, foul balls, pitching changes and the occasional home run. It all can be traced to the obsession with velocity.

As for any perceived delays, pitchers would adapt quickly. No need to go 100% all out, every pitch. And that would cut down on the arm injuries as well. The game needs more action, and that involves more batted balls in play.

If a guy like Greg Maddux was coming up now, he may never have gotten a full chance as he could never hit 95 on the gun.
