Free Contest at Mahoning Valley
 

Every Monday in August Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course is having a free handicapping contest. Pick the most winners on Mountaineer's card and you win! 1st Prize $100, 2nd is $75, 3rd is $50. Tie breakers are total mutuel payouts.

1st week there were 35 entries. 2nd week 46 entries. Not too shabby. Might be more people in the contest than attending live, minus the "help".

If that's the case, it goes to show you how much contempt Penn Gaming really has towards "live" horse racing. Especially if they can't do anything like that during the live racing season to support their own racing product.

Really? Live racing at MVRC returns on October 28th. We just started doing contests this Summer. Currently it's on Saturdays on Northfield Park races. I assume we'll have some contests for the Live Meet. Freely giving away $225 every week wreaks of contempt for our patrons.

Let's say that the racino has about 1000 machines. Each machine should average about $250 a day in profit. That's $250K a day. That's 7.5 million a month. Of course the racino promos are going to be the main focus. I do thank you for letting me know that the racing page needs updating tho.
