Residential Hoops

Having garage of soon-to-be constructed house fitted out with 30x30 concrete entrance which I plan to trick-up for basketball. My intention is to dye the surface kelly green, paint key and foul line in white, adorn one wing with "33" (Bird) and the other with "55" (my old number). Am also considering Celt's logo, perhaps in key.

With such a self-indulgent set-up, going cheap on the hoop-system is unthinkable, and Spalding's "The Beast" looks top-quality.

Does anyone here have experience with high-end residential hoops and or decorating the surface?

I realize this all sounds elaborate, but practicing my stroke remains a passion, and having my own (quasi) court speaks to a dream.

For coloring the cement, do it asap, so there is no oil or other stuff on the surface. Having the surface very clean is the most important thing.

checkout the material that the backboard is made out of because when the weather changes it expands and contracts. i forgot the name of the company, but there is a company that makes a backboard that should last longer than Spaulding for outdoor use. Spaulding is great for indoor boards though.

And make sure it's strong enough to hold up against those power jams you be throwin' down....you do elevate, don't you? :coffee:

I have three sons. I put a court in my backyard and we played for hours.

Great memories. We all carved our initials in the cement before it dried.

When I had to sell the house after my accident ( no more stairs for a while) the last thing I looked at was our initials. Shortly after moving the new owners took out the court and put in a swimming pool.

Enjoy the hoops big man.

Tx for the responses, guys. I'll spare you extensive tales-some true, others greatly exaggerated in these parts- of my basketball prowess. But I will say somebody asked me in a grocery store just the other day if I had once made 200 straight free throws. I laughed and answered honestly: NO!! He seemed skeptical of that response. And clearly disappointed. I should have humored him and fed the fantasy.
