i assume it is an xp machine. If so, try booting in safe mode.
Here is how:
If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power
and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
maybe try to reboot by choosing "last known good configuration" if that doesn't work..........restart in safe mode.........and then try to troubleshoot.
Something is crashing on boot. First question I have is "did he have his hands inside the computer" new ram ?
If the machiine is set to "restart on system failure" it will constantly reboot iin this scenario..........if that is it......he needs a tech. Either way he probably needs a tech.
