PPs - Equibase vs Brisnet vs DRF

Which do you prefer? Any specific reasoning?

BIG49010 05-28-2011 07:37 PM

I don't know if Bris is the best, but it was the only game in town when I started my program is 1992. I wish they all had similar data files, but that would be too easy wouldn't it.

I'd say the DRF Formulator are best but I've used the Bris for the past 10 years now without paying a dime , so they are best for me.

It depends on what you consider important. Is it price? Is it accuracy and consistency? Is it their figures?

If price is the priority and PDF is ok, then Brisnet is your choice. I've heard that Brisnet has some consistency problems, but haven't experienced too much of that from them over the years.

Figures? Well, I don't use figs in my personal handicapping, but I certainly wouldn't choose Bris figs over almost any others.

Equibase is worthless.
DRF is the best looking and the Beyers are far better than BRIS numbers, but over-priced by a whole lot. I will never have any use at all for the web version of Formulator. I only use DRF when there are races with foreign imports and I need Racing Post ratings.

BRIS is the best buy and is useful in many programs, plus has far more info than anyone elsed, although the pave and speed are pretty bad. Since I use BRIS for the CJs, that is ok by me.

Number 1 is price, but a close 2nd is accuracy + consistency. Is there another service that offer's better PPs than the 3 I've listed?

Agree with Tom 100 %

IMO, EQUEBASE,WORTHLESS, BRIS SPEED AND PACE FIGS GARBAGE,
DRF BETTER BUT OVERPRICED.

If you play everday, multiple tracks, drf has the unlimited plan, bris does not. So drf is much cheaper. Unless there is a Bris data unlimited plan i am unaware of.

plainolebill 05-29-2011 02:35 AM

I use BRIS because they're cheaper and the figs are 'good enough'.

Is there not a 4th choice?

I have been using HDW files for this year. At $90 per month for all tracks, it is a reasonable cost, plus I get to play with the J/Capper software.

That would be my choice, if I wanted more than 3 or 4 tracks per month. JCapper has an export for AllData.

FreeExperience 05-29-2011 09:01 AM

What is JCapper?

Database handicapping software.

Do a search. As you can get the "Silver" program for free if you sign up for the data plan, I think it is a very good bargain. A steep learning curve, but very interesting.

The answer depends on where you bet and whether you use a computer program to help your handicapping. If you bet twinspires and don't use a program, free is pretty hard to beat. If I bet offline, I spring the overpriced DRF.
