Justify to continue racing?
 

Hoping this is strictly hype, Justify deserves to retire and have
"happy endings".

Risking 75,000,000 syndication to race in the Haskell and Breeders Cup
is insane..

I’d like to see him run again so I’m all for it. AP did it.

What. He's a racehorse. Most fans want to see him complete the year. The "happy ending" will come from winning the Breeders' Cup Classic.

I agree. Insurance must be cheaper than I think.......

I think he should race in the Breeders Cup Classic, but before that, he either has a prep race like the Haskell or a "Win and Your In" Breeders Cup race. THAT would be my choice if I was Baffert.

Trust me...all involved can afford it.

If they thought they had a public relations disaster with the Restoring Hope business...just try and retire this horse now.

Everyone (except me of course) thought the next TC winner would retire immediately. We saw with AP this didn't happen...so it's not going to happen with Justify either.

Nor should it.

Retiring Justify now would CHEAPEN his real tangible value IMO. Especially since we just had a TC winner a few years ago.

The shine has rubbed off a tad...so I think it's even more urgent that Justify go out there for at least the rest of the year.

Would be awesome to see him as a 4yo...THAT would be one helluva sporting gesture...unfortunately, this game has lost a lot of the sport that it used to have.

Threads like these are proof of that.

Consider the battles we saw in the late 70s between Slew, Affirmed and Bid. And later between Alysheba and Ferdinand.

Agree with PA (how about that!), the sport has largely lost it's sporting component.

More big business than anything else.

The AP offspring will hit the track next year. Does winning a TC make you a great sire? We'll find out.

It doesnt, being a really talented well bred horse doesnt.

Easy Goer and Sunday Silence demonstrated this pretty good.

While I can understand running in the Breeders cup against the same
crew and/or international Tbreds who could compete, winning the Haskell against any of the horses Justify has faced makes little sense based upon
the investment made by these owners with the ultimate goal of
sending Justify to the breeding shed.

The worse case scenario could be Justify sustaining a serious injury while
winning the Haskell

At this point, the Eclipse awards for horse, trainer, and perhaps Jockey of the year is a slam dunk for these connections;based upon the ownership ,
additional purse money is a non issue.

I'm wondering Betfair, would take action on on "J" racing in the Haskell
and/o the Breeders Cup?

I agree with what seems to be the consensus opinion in that I don't expect Justify's career to extend beyond a max of 2-3 more races.
Watched with interest as he was unloaded after the big trip 'home' yesterday. My god he looked great, like he was ready to spring from the gate at a moments notice.
The think I question about breeding starts with Chef de Race designation for any horse that wins the Ky Derby, AND the idea that sires are the end all be all of whether or not offspring are going to have the chance to be great. IMO the mare is at least equal in terms of genetics, and in behavioral development far more important than the stud.

Or maybe just start with the Belmont Stakes winners. I mean, look at those who won the Belmont Stakes and not the TC. Quite more than a few have become prominent sires.
