Agreed. Some of my best payoffs have come from betting long odds horses in small fields.

Really like finding that one single in a large field. Add that to a long price in a short field, and the payouts can border on ridiculous in multi-race wagers.

I generally only like to play the larger fields (8 to 14 runners). I find that the tote analysis I use differentiates the money flow on individual entries much clearer when there are more involved. It certainly makes weeding out what I believe to be the real contenders in a race and makes them more obvious. I also find that there is generally much more value in the Vertical plays when there are more entries. Even when Dutching, I’m not looking for a specific Winner. I’m looking to make a Winning and profitable plays on a consistent basis.
