What Did You Do in the War, Daddy?

In honor of Veteran's Day this weekend, I'm posting this thread for those of us who would like to catalog their service or just thank those who did serve. I'll start by saying thanks for everyone's service.

4/64 - 9/68 USAF Communications Officer (O-3). Never got to Nam but was an advisor in Korea to the ROKAF and supported our deployed SAC bombers stateside during Operation Arc Light (Vietnam). Also served a brief stint in the NYANG in the early 70's.

Today has been quite an emotional day here. I attended the remembrance service in my city of Coventry. Thank you to all who have served and to those who gave their lives in the many wars.
There have been many events all over the country but to me the images that will stick are these amazing portraits of people who served in WW1 made in the sand at 33 beaches throughout the UK.

Served in the USAF from 75-79, but it was peacetime and I was stationed in Austin at Bergstrom. Easy duty, and had a lot of fun. I'm a lot more proud of my dad, who served in the marines and was gravely wounded in Tinian. My older brother has the following of my dad's in a box made for him....
Silver star, bronze star, Purple Heart, and a toe tag marked "deceased".

My older brother has these. My full appreciation for my dad's sacrifices weren't realized until I was in my late teens. He'd have turned 93 on November 4. Every time I look at the first 20 minutes of saving private Ryan it puts a good bit of horror in me, my dad did that three times at age 18

If you served (like me), no big deal. If you had the experiences my dad did, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

2nd Infantry Division, right? You guys with the indian head patch were all over the place at Yongsan (Seoul) when I would go up there, 1966-1967. I was at K-5, Taejon, 110 miles south of Seoul. Got up to Osan and Seoul quite a bit, though.
