I think your estimates are way too high. It is a gambler's mistake. Gamblers don't think anything they bet on would not exist if weren't for gambling. Sometimes that is the case, sometimes it isn't.
Sports wagering isn't going to be legal anytime soon. There is not much demand for legalized sports wagering. Just a few hard up gamblers that can't find a reliable bookie are the only people who want.

the best thing that happened to pro football lately was fantasy football, and i think you can some kind of action on it these days as well.

i don't know what the percentage of NFL fans bet the sport, but i would guess at least a third.

there is no way i can beat sports gambling these days and the NFL is a bore to me. i like baseball and hockey much better and don't need to bet to watch those sports. i can watch horse racing without betting on it, but i always take notes.

Could you expound on "gamblers mistake" because I don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Do you have or know of a bookie?
Have you wagered on the NFL in the past two years?
Have you attended a sports bar in the last two years?
Above all are you a football fan?
Do you watch racing on Sunday, football, or both? I'm talking about people who actually watch the games every week not the casual viewer.

Do you have data on this comment?

Gamblers don't think anything they bet on would not exist if weren't for gambling.

I'm ok with people disputing (I'm not a stinking genius) anything I write but please back it up.

Did you read my posts?????

Except for the percentage I don't know what else you are disputing because we are in agreement.

It has always been my contention that football would become a second-rate sport if it weren't for the gambling element which surrounds it. And I think the league knows it. There isn't as much antagonism between the league and the bookmakers as the league lets on. These detailed injury reports...with whom in mind were they created? I remember reading the comments of a popular Las Vegas sportsbook manager a few years ago...where he said that the best thing for the Vegas bookies would be if the league would push back the starting times of their afternoon games a little...so their customers could cash their early bets before placing their later ones. A year and a half later...the late game starting times were pushed back.

To me...the pointspread has done as much for football as the forward pass.

Despite all this rhetoric the fact remains New Jersey still does not have sports wagering, and will not have it anytime in the short or distance future.
This is the one sure bet that you can get in line and cash.

If you consider fantasy and confidence pools gambling, I think you are way off base at least for football. Football is the Saratoga, Keenland,Santa Anita, Triple Crown and Breeders Cup of sports gambling. Football survives on gambling and would be just people watching their local teams without it.

I was not talking to you. I was responding to Canarsie and Robert Goren...about the "gambler's mistake" that they were discussing. I couldn't care less if New Jersey ever gets sports wagering or not. I got a bookie.

You, and you're bookie, are both breaking the law.

Part of the status quo that keeps US sports wagering in the Dark Ages.

Just remember this is a public forum, when you talk to one, you talk to all and every one that posts on PA has the same rights that you do. So don't get so bent out of shape.

I am not getting bent out of shape. You responded to me as if my post had anything to do with New Jersey...when it did not. You are telling me to remember that this is a public forum. It is also well known that, in a public forum, there is a certain amount of thread drift...and that all the posts do not necessarily have to be related to the thread title.

It isn't surprising to me that you are wrong about this too. Your opinion seems to be way off when it comes to gambling issues. To me...it is the law itself which permits illegal bookies to thrive.

You say that I am breaking the law. What would you have me do...wait until sports betting becomes legalized?

Your downfall, sir, is that you are convinced
that you are the authority on all things gambling.

Simply because my views on some gambling matters
differ to yours, does not invalidate them in any way.

You may well be a gambling expert.
That does not make you correct 100% of the time.

No...I am wrong on a regular basis. But not as often as you are.

When it comes to gambling, of ALL types...I'll match my knowledge against yours ANYTIME!
