New TVG Streaming app for the tv !

Tvg just released a streaming app on the fire stick and Apple TV. Both apps have 3 channels to choose from tvg and tvg2 streaming and a third channel called tvg racebook that has multiple tracks on screen at once. It’s broadcasting in hd. Not sure of the bitrate but it looks amazing on my new 4k firestick.

Alc 12-12-2017 08:32 PM

Great . Now looking for Roku .

kingfin66 12-12-2017 10:09 PM

Is the content free through the streaming app?

Dmcwally 12-12-2017 10:35 PM

Yes

Just use your tvg login info to login

Can you use it if you're in a state where you can't get a TVG account?

It forces you to log in with no other options.

RunForTheRoses 12-13-2017 06:06 PM

Thanks, it works great, had just canceled cable and this is a great free replacement.

titans1127 12-13-2017 10:43 PM

Only thing I wish the app had was for the racebook section to allow for customization of which tracks you can look at aside from the main TVG feed. Or for the ones they choose to switch audio sources.

chiguy 12-14-2017 11:21 AM

Thanks for this. Cut the cord a few months ago and have learned in that time that watching racing was one of the things I really missed. Have an old TVG account that I haven't used in years so this is excellent.

Is it really high definition? They always say that some tracks are broadcast in high def, but they're not actually broadcast in high def.

The broadcast I saw from the Meadowlands last night looked crystal clear HD to me.

Nice. I've got Roku so I'll wait patiently.

RunForTheRoses 12-31-2017 05:15 PM

Haven't used this too much yet, today it is freezing up on me at times. Have Amazon Fire.

spiketoo 01-01-2018 07:49 AM

Haven't checked Goog Play yet. Android TV?

Southbaygent 01-03-2018 11:11 AM

Way way sharper picture than my Cox cable box (via Apple TV)
I’ve had a Roku two years now, just bumped it to second tier in my entertainment center for the new Apple TV, love it. Had an Apple TV years ago and got rid of it, I like this new one. The ability to download so many TV apps and link/use them via my (minimal but have to keep) Cox cable account is handy.

I bought an Amazon Firestick last week, mainly to watch TVG in high def. Not all of the tracks are in high def, just the ones that broadcasts in high definition, but, still, the picture quality is much better than TVG broadcasts on my RCN cable.

But I found out that the Firestick is worth the $37.99 I paid for it. I have Amazon Prime and Music and with the Firestick I can listen to Amazon Music through the Firestick (as opposed to the Echo) and the sound quality is much better since the Echo connects to my receiver with a 3.5mm audio cable...The firestick is HDMI. And now when I listen to a song through Amazon Music, it shows the lyrics, karaoke-style, on my TV screen.

As for the other shows that I watch, for some reason, my Rokio has a better overall picture quality than the Firestick, so right now I'm only using Firestick for TVG and Music. However, with Firestick, I can also use KODI, a streaming ap that has a lot of files on it, but I downloaded it and haven't learned out how to use it yet, it's a bit complicated.

Overall, the Firestick was well worth it if you have Amazon Prime Music, or want to see the races in HIGH DEF and don't want to wait for TVG to get hooked up with Rokio.

Looks like it is now available on the Roku - I found it in the streaming channel list and was able to install the app on my Roku stick the other day. Worked fine, at least from my brief viewing the past two days. TVG's customer service didn't even know about the current Roku situation - I had to call because of an issue setting up my account, and the rep thought Roku wasn't supported yet.

So you still need an account? Stinks for us in a state where TVG won't offer us one for some unknown reason.

Thanks old guy. I just connected and it looks awesome. Now I can get TVG2, which isn't included with my Comcast.

App requires a login, so it made me set up an account. Don't know if it's geographically restricted - I'm in MD.

it is, always has been with TVG. seems short sighted to me

macguy 01-13-2018 07:01 PM

For anyone that wants to watch horse racing on their Roku or computer that can't or doesn't want to get TVG, RTN is great.

https://www.rtn.tv/

I believe the only tracks you can't watch on the Internet/Roku Version are Churchill Downs, Fairgrounds, and Arlington Park.

The tracks that broadcast HD Signals are available in HD.
Lots of fun. Nothing is more fun than spending a Saturday afternoon at home watching HD horse racing on a big screen tv.:ThmbUp::ThmbUp:

You are correct I live in Vegas where I can place bets via my phone or pc on
any race track, but can not have a TVG account, and so can not watch TVG or TVG2 on tvg.com.
Only in America.

It’s probably common knowledge, but I just discovered you can get TVG in HD on VZW Fios on channel 815 (in NJ, at least). Hitting the C button on the remote while on 315 doesn't automatically change it to 815, unlike most of the SD channels which have HD channels.

The Roku App is over a minute behind the live feed. Be careful don't get shut out.

Varies with me on Apple TV. I check it against my ADWs and sometimes just a few seconds, sometimes as many as 45 seconds or so.

SandyLoam 04-13-2019 07:14 PM

When TVG sheete streams, they have a name for that. Starts with D and ends with hea. How many people are on this forum? If we all band together, can we travel and please ask Todd Schrupp to shut the hell rupp? He's even infected Bray! Today, he called it the Kenducky Derby. Without taking a breath and using EVEN MORE words, he then corrected himself. Give a guy a mulligan, but it shows his mouth, which he loves to hear, is ahead of his brain, minimal as that is. Godamight, can't America do better?

Tommy's ma: "Henry, you don't talk much. How come?" "Just listenin'"

I had elders who said "If you got nothing to say, shut up!"
I understand puppy Schruppy has a job to do, but it's not about the job with him. It's about him. I need a cold compress. P.S. Oaklawn might just be the nicest little track in the world.

This is all very interesting to me as I want to step into this and cut the cord. Much to be expanded in knowledge before I actually make the move. I have Comcast and from what I have found so far is that there is a 1 Terabyte Internet cap before they jack you $10 more per month. Other things I have found in racing is the amount of pop up content Brisbet or Twin was annoying me with just getting around the site getting in and before I get to buy the product I want. Prior I was wading through a bunch of crap so I installed Adguard and it chilled them out. So questions about annoying pop ups come to mind if getting rid if that makes my bandwidth usage less and so on. Anyone else that may have some ideas please share them.
