thread might fly - maybe not - for posting anything about any sport

stories are going around the NFL that Russell Wilson demanded the firing of Pete Carroll and the GM before losing that battle and leaving the Seahawks
I've never heard anything like that before
Wilson denies it
Wilson underwhlemed in Denver as they went 5-12
he had his own support staff there and all kinds of special privileges

This is probably because I’m biased about my Seahawks but I don’t believe for a second that Russ would want Pete to go AND the Gm like it’s because someone always sparks something and then all the media outlets go crazy because they don’t know if it’s real or not so they run it as being true until the word comes out that is really was true or not if that makes sense lol

Good topic start HalfSmoke! Good pick last night on Bucks that was EZ money right there never in doubt now 13 in a row for them now

It is now almost eight months since the PAC 12 opened negotiations on a new media deal. Still don't have one in place. It took the Big 12 about six weeks to complete theirs. They are talking to Apple to do a streaming deal, which will be a disaster since no one has Apple. Streaming sports does not bring in the eyeballs, especially when it is behind a paywall. I could go on forever but if someone has a question about it, I got the answers!

did you ever feel when you're betting horses that you have a really good insight into a race, so you make your play - and you win

and then you think to yourself - if only I could limit myself to bets like that where I really thought I had a strong play - I could really beat this game good

but you can't - because it's like that old Lays potato chip thing

So many moving parts to that negotiation. The media has no idea whether Stanford or Washington or Oregon are still going to be part of the PAC12 in the coming days. They have to structure an acceptable deal to both sides that incorporates all the possibilities.

I used to think that, but quickly learned the answer was NO.

Going streaming on tier 1 rights is a big no for Oregon and Washington and possibly the two Arizona schools. Getting all 10 to sign a grant of rights is also a major hurdle. Oregon and Washington won't sign a long term agreement if they will be locked into the PAC for the next 5-7 years. The deals on the table are unacceptable to some of the schools. Exposure is critical for the schools as recruits want to be seen on national tv which Apple or Amazon can't provide. It is a huge mess the PAC is dealing with.

the link is quite interesting - to me anyway - it shows how the 3 point attempt has changed the NBA game

in 1979 when it was first put in there were only an average of three 3 point attempts per game

gradually, players started practicing it, getting better at it, and now there are on average 34. 3 three point attempts per game

the no. of per game 3 point attempts has increased in 15 of the last 20 years

the overall 3 point % is currently .360
the overall 2 point % is currently .474

in 100 shots on average the 3 point shooters will score 108 points
in 100 shots on average the 2 point shooters will score 95 points

even though so many of the 2 point attempts are dunks or very close in shots

the 3 point % did not hit .300 until 1986
it hit .359 in 1994 and really hasn't climbed since - again, now at .360

Interesting stats Half Smoke

For those of you who follow college basketball (like I do) the 2023 Selection Sunday show is this Sunday at 6pm EST for the march madness tournament

It is always exciting to see what teams get what seeds and also to see the players reactions for not just the popular schools but for the teams competing in the tournament for the first time

Should be fun! I'll be posting my full tournament selections as soon as the bracket has been filled :)

On a collision course with Tennessee, whom Kenpom has as a whisker better at .16 pts.
