Our first annual Prophet’s Choice Awards are coming up and our final nominees for 2020 Male Horse of the Year are:

Our awards are all to be given prior to the Breeder’s Cup, due to the date of our 1st birthday!

While some here say the Breeders Cup is overemphasized in awards voting (and maybe it is), giving a Horse of the Year award before the BC is like awarding the Super Bowl trophy before the playoffs start.

No real disagreement on nominees, but there is now real clear winner from my perspective. I think that the Breeders Cup will be the key determining factor when it comes to eclipse award time. At this time I would go with Maximum Security, in spite of all the controversy attached to him. I could easily be talked out of of it, no really strong opinion.

It seems best male horse has been restricted to "8 to 10 furlongs on dirt".

Agreed, in theory. But this is a year over year award given for Oct-Oct. So this includes the Breeders Cup, but the 2019 BC. Like many annual awards in different walks of life, this isn’t Fiscal year 2020.

Just an FYI, not a disagreement.
