Gural built the new grandstand at the Meadowlands and he must have taken the measures necessary to have sports wagering at that facility I'm sure Hard Rock in AC will have a system in place as well, I couldn't tell you about the other casinos most are running on fumes....

What is really at stake, according to gambling and the law expert, Attorney I. Nelson Rose, is medical marijuana and when can the federal government overrule state laws.

He says none of the original drafters of the Constitution would have thought the federal government could interfere in areas like gambling and pot, legal or not.

I may have missed it, but was wondering what this could mean for states that don't allow ADW?

My understanding is that if the Supreme Court rules in New Jersey's favor this means that states will have more control over what is legal. If they rule against New Jersey it could mean the Federal Gov't can control more of a state's rights.

The consensus seems to be that the High Court will rule in favor of New Jersey and give states more rights over things like legalized marijuana, sports betting, etc. There really is no good reason that only Nevada should be allowed to have sports betting.

Monmouth Park will conduct a question and answer forum on Sports Betting this Friday, December 8 at 10:00 am. The forum will be held in the William Hill Room at Monmouth Park. All are welcome to attend.

One couldn't possibly do more damage to integrity of sports betting than to allow New Jersey to legalize it. It'll make Penn look like a Boy Scout operation.:D

This is the most clearly unconstitutional law going, and it's not even close. It is breathtakingly idiotic and it's an embarrassment to American jurisprudence that this is even a question. Seriously, with judges like those at the district and appellate court level, no wonder why no one respects the legal profession.

Not only is it illogical in every way, it violates the 10th Amendment from the get-go. Which is proven by the fact that they allowed anyone to have it, or keep it --- and then make it unequal (only Vegas with single game betting, lol), then this, then that, it's a total joke.

I agree with you but Christie wanted to be politically correct in his assessment of the possibility the Court ruled against NJ.
Here is a quote from Dennis Drazin who by the way has lead a never ending fight for the legalization of sports wagering in NJ.

“I would anticipate that Monmouth Park would be up and running within two weeks and while I can’t speak for casinos or other tracks, I am sure everyone is going to try and move forward expeditiously,” Drazin said. “If the Supreme Court rules PASPA is unconstitutional, we would most likely have the option on the short-term basis of opening under the old law.”

I have also heard and the question was asked by Justice Gorsuch, would jersey take a statutory win and Olson answered in the affirmative. Basically PASPA would stay in place but jerseys repeal would be okay. Just speaking from Monmouth perspetive that might be better for them. They (and the casinos) would have a monopoly on east coast sw until other legislatures act.

NJ casinos and racetracks may get what they wished for! Hard Rock has been moving forward on the renovation of the old Trump Taj Mahal. The Revell is also going to re-open as a casino in the spring. This is all based on sports wagering being approved in the early summer which will lead to more people frequenting the casinos and the race tracks. MP has the early foot up on the competition as all of the hardware is in place to begin accepting SW bets. This could be a very good year for racing in the state of NJ. Once this moves forward the next step will be a casino in the Meadowlands and most likely Jersey City.
