Eventually there will be an app for wagering through your smart phone or PC until then the platform that will be rolled out will require someone to get in their car and drive to the tracks or casinos. Since it is the only game in town it will have a very high success rate. Why? William Hill wouldn't have invested all of their time and money into developing the platform if they thought it would be a losing proposition.

That is why the Supreme Court will not touch this.

NJ is one step ahead of those other states. If I can remember NJ was ten steps ahead of the other states when it came to casino gambling and look what happened.
The other states will have their governor pass an executive order or fast track legislation and New Jersey will have the same situation with SW that they has now with casino gambling in Atlantic City, and you can bet on this that it will happen faster then you can say Jackie Robinson.
That is the reason this law was passed in the first place, to restrict SW to some degree.
By the way no court has ever ruled that this law is unconstitutional.

William Hill investing a lot of money is not a very good example, The Revel cost 2.3 billion to open their doors and look where all that invested money got them, sold at action for 110 million and out of business along with several other casino that have recently gone belly up.
New Jersey is living a pipe dream if they think that sports wagering is some sort of financial road to the promise land.
The slot players outnumber the sport wagering players at least 500 to 1 and where in New Jersey did all that tax money go, so why would this be any different.

What does the Revel have to do with MP and William Hills investment in their future? No one ever said SW was a cure all, it is a start, another revenue stream.

Never said any court ruled it was, the argument set forth is that it is.

I recall hearing, many years ago, that the Casinos would revitalize the area around AC. I haven't been down there in a few years, but when I was, I found that if you ventured more than a block or two from the casinos, things got very seedy.

There is a term used when one looks at a failing industry, one trick pony, it is a fact that AC never followed through on the initial proposed plan that was to make a pedestrian walk to encorporate the casinos with the street life as Las Vegas has done in a successful manner. No where can one walk in Atlantic City and feel safe other than the famous Boardwalk or the somewhat recently added Tanger way,
which is an assortment of factory outlet stores. AC had its chance to grow instead it opted out for resting on its past laurels.

Perfect example of how these casino companies and the AC faction thinks people are idiots and they can put lipstick on a pig. Everyone knows AC is a dump, they're not fooling anyone.

Yet, it's remaining casinos still leave it way up the ladder in $ drop.
Even with the closings there, it will always be at least top 5 in the nation.

Now the Trump Taj Mahal may be closing if they cannot work out union concessions. The people of South Jersey need to send a message and boot everyone of those political goofs who thought their town was invincible. A 14% unemployment rate in AC isn't a draw for anyone!

A very short term revenue stream even if the courts rule in NJ's favor. A lot shorter term than the casinos's. Everybody is poised to move on this if NJ wins. Anyplace that casino gambling now will have sports wagering in 5 years if NJ gets it.

Which, of course, is the main reason why the sports organizations
and Nevada will fight it by all means possible.

i haven't been to nevada this century, but tell me that there aren't at least 100,000 people that come to town just to bet the NCAA basket ball playoffs. there are a whole bunch that come out there to bet the Kentucky Derby as well. and tell us how many blackjack tables go from $10 minimum's to $100 minimums when they have a big fight in town.

Vegas don't want Jersey to get sports wagering. and i think they have the law behind them.

Stillriledup 10-08-2014 06:35 PM

Think this:

massive Casino in Meadowlands complex, all casino games not just slots, 5 star hotel, fine dining and yeah, sports betting.

You think that place won't be hopping during March Madness?
