No CD in Nevada again, why can't reasonable people sit down and iron out a deal?
I want anybody to tell me how this impasse is good for the sport of horse racing.
Two years is long enough, wake up already.

NO:

CDI will not sign a contract with the state of Nevada, the real problem is that CDI also blocks the signal from Oaklawn plus many other tracks.
For a company that is so involved in horse racing CDI is a disgrace and for some reason CDI does not care how much they continue to hurt and destroy the sport of horse racing as long as there are plenty of rear ends sitting at the slots machines that they control.

Lets remember CDI also barred TVG from the Derby.

If you want more people to take interest in [supporting] the sport, then why play the game by making it inaccessible?

It's fairly obvious that Churchill doesn't think they're losing too much by shutting out LV. Though the big ADWs are not legalized in Nevada (you can mobile bet with an account set up at a casino), there are many accounts of players using VPNs of various types to skirt the geolocation restrictions. This always seemed to come up around NHC.

This is also likely why we don't see the regular schedule of very-low-to-no takeout tournaments we used to see in LV. The casinos would make it up and benefit from the live wagers being made by the contest players. Now those live wagers go elsewhere, so casinos have no incentive.

BetPTC my preferred ADW has been without a CDI or NYRA signal too for a few months now

Nevada Pari-mutual handles and controls all betting on mobile accounts that are set up in the casinos, no skirting restrictions. The tracks that there are no contract's on are not even listed on your mobile phone.
You can't bet something if it is not on the menu to start with.

I'm talking about those who DO skirt the restrictions via technology to use their TwinSpires/XPressBet/offshore(?) accounts - where these tracks are available - in a state where they are not legal (not just Nevada, but Texas, etc.).

Today, Churchill Downs buried Arlington Park after 94 years of racing, can anybody tell me what Churchill has done for racing in the last ten years except put the nails in the coffin of racing. It is all about slots and not keeping their word to the people and state of Illinois. No honor just greed and still no deal with Nevada.

for those that can remember that far back, there used to be only 4 or 5 different bookmaking shops that booked horses and sports.. the joints were named after racetracks like Churchill Downs and Santa Anita.

I remembered walking into Harry Gordon's Churchill Downs for the first time in the early 1970s and bet on a baseball game. I went to the window and bet a game $750 to win $500. I won the bet and went back to cash the ticket and they took out 10% of the win for federal taxes. I went to an old-timer that I knew was a casino host at the Stardust and he hooked me up with Churchill Downs and I got classified as a VIP player. what that was is that you could go to the window and bet $1000 but they only wrote the ticket up for $100 and they wrote the letter "R" on the bottom of the ticket. so now I only paid the tax on the $100 and not the $1000. they did the same thing for me with the horse bets. eventually, the federal taxes got lowered to what it still is today, .25 of the initial bet. with that and laws that passed in Nevada that only granted race and sportsbook licenses to places that had hotel rooms brought the bookmaking shops to the large hotels. by the mid-'90s there were no free-standing race and sportsbooks in Las Vegas.
