A Christmas/Chanukah wish to NYRA

:bang: This is a wish I posted at least once on this forum.
Since you made a ton of $$$ on "mistaken" surcharges on
payoffs these past few months, and are now flush with dollars
(or at least in a better financial position than 6 months ago), and
are raising purses to lure bigger barns , larger fields , and
more fans:

Let's Get TRAKUS !!!!!

Your video crews suck, your announcers are making errors on calls,
and there is absolutely no reason not to follow this advice unless
you'd rather line your pockets and continue to lag behind the
premier tracks who are following the advice of their staff and fans.

I'm certain there are NYRA lurkers on this site, and I can't believe
there is a major cost to this recommendation.

In fact, you could amortize the cost by eliminating the daunting video system
and/or personnel constantly confusing fans and often your announcers
during a race.

That said, best wishes for the New year to all members on the PA Forum.

 :bang: :(

Who needs Trackus?
After watching R7 today, I think a good calendar is all they need.
Glad I got my annual inner track bet out of the way...I won't be tempted to look at any more this season.

Happy New Year to you, Gary.

Once again, I'm going to wager your prognostication is horribly wrong.

And if you're right, and it does go 20+ pages, it won't be for the reasons you think...

The truth is, very few people in the game are clamoring for TRAKUS...and that's not because it's not a good idea...but because it appears to have been SEVERELY underutilized from a fan and horseplayer's perspective...

Meaning, many of us yawn at what we have been given thus far at the tracks that have installed this technology.

It would have to be used a heck of a lot more to warrant a yawn at this point!
No one has even bothered to give it a full screen view yet, let alone actually USE the data constructively. Trakus will go the way of poly tracks.....why spend the money on it and get zero use from it? The two Edsels of horse racing - Trakus and polytrack.

I think this is an excellent point.

With that said, NYRA takes a very unique approach to their on-air handicapping and one person has everything to do with that. If there was a person on air discussing a horse's trip and utilizing the Trakus data in doing so, then that would be tremendously useful. It could be integrated beautifully into a program like Trips and Traps, specifically this time of year when a wide trip is often a death sentence.

If Gulfstream's on-air handicappers wanted to use the Trakus data a bit more in their discussion of races, they'd certainly have a couple of yesterday's results marked down for future reference. How hopelessly wide were both Pinckney Hill and Nikki's Sandcastle in the 10th while the eventual winner wired the field through very soft fractions?

In my opinion, especially at racetracks where multiple handicappers are employed, it would behoove them to have one person devote themselves to analyzing the data and bringing up particularly notable performances. By putting this info on the website in addition to the telecast, rather than just the Trakus data for someone to interpret, the appreciation for the info would increase.
