Pedigree Research
I use APR to go deep on pedigrees. I'm curious if anyone has good reference sites for pedigree information. For example, what is the best spot for sire proficiency (i.e. how their offspring perform at different distances, surfaces, etc.). Also, I see detail about sales and works leading up to sales. Does anyone know where this information resides?
Any guidance here would be appreciated.

In terms of pedigree usage during race handicapping (M) a huge majority use sire-line only. I see little edge in doing the same. Besides that, from a practical view, it is the mare who raises the offspring through it's most formative period, greatly influencing behavior tendencies. So on that basis I always consider the dam just as, or more, important in determining a rank for today's racer, particularly in FTS/MD/MSW events. MD/MSW races have given me some of my highest paying winners ever.

I agree and all of my analysis has been female line driven. I have almost excluded the sire line which is why I'm expanding this area some. For the most part, I think traditional pedigree analysis is fools gold.
However, I do like to understand overall class in the female line and distances and surfaces the best runners in the family ran at. This helps me understand trainer intent. For example, there was a horse entered in the last race at Churchill Downs on Sunday 6/28 (EAST OF EDEN). The race was for a mile on turf (she was scratched and it was moved to dirt due to rain). She ran only sprints in four starts oversees (first US start). She had Urban Sea in the 2nd generation and Urban Sea is the dam of two Arc de Triomphe winners. I'd say the strechout is the desired goal when she returns.

Ahh...Pedigree data...what a mess.
DRF Formulator seems to have the most comprehensive stats (sire and dam records / earnings, most recent races for all foals, foal summary win & start stats by various categories including by distance and surface type, etc.)
Brisnet also has its own set of composite pedigree ratings which for me have been slightly less useful than Tomlinsons.
Bloodhorse's stallion register let's you search for sires and gives access to some stats through equineline. Stats include average winning distance, average earnings index, black type winners, etc.
I've used Mazur's pedigree ratings as well.
2yo sales workouts have been elusive to me, but I think you can safely assume that these track sales price anyways so just use sales price as a proxy.
I would love it if someone said they've found a massive, but well-organized and accessible .csv file with sire and dam stats.

I think this is an excellent source.
It's pedigree standings using Beyer Figures. You can use filter by various categories, sort by various column categories, and it goes back a lot of years. Honestly, I think it's the best general pedigree data available unless you want to look up siblings and detailed things like that which you can do elsewhere in Formulator and other sources.

Looks good, but can you only search by a singe year?

Unfortunately, only one year at a time. To a large extent it was built for Breeders so they could showcase the success of their stallions in Beyer terms as well as Graded Stakes wins and earnings. But if you have a specific sire in mind you could always do some arithmetic yourself and add multiple years together.
Even though it's mostly for breeders, I still use it for handicapping to get a better feel for sires in Beyer terms also. I look at the newest sires in the 2yo category, look at turf etc..
I did a lot of work on this project. So I'm a little biased. ;)
