Basically, you need to keep it fresh and lively, and that is very difficult to do on a daily basis because we are talking about real world people, human beings, with all their idiosyncrasies, habits, strengths AND weaknesses, the good, the bad, and yes the ugly too..
...it is not like these are movies, or mini-series shows...it is live, in your face camera work...and let's face it, how many of us are THAT cute, THAT intelligent, THAT respectable, THAT proficient (at handicapping) to do the grind they do for their shifts...there is only so much a person can ramble on about before it gets inane, for anyone..
...put up the most beautiful person you can get, and 4 weeks later they are old hat, because by then we will KNOW EVERYTHING about them, they become familiar, their novelty wears off, we see through them, they begin to bore us...just for being themselves...
...The TVG roles are tough to keep fresh...and we must remember that a horse race is for the most part, a very simple thing...a bunch of animals race in a circle and one finishes ahead of the others...we call that "the winner"...
...How many times can a person watch a horse race...over and over again...it is really not that profound of an experience...and once you have "done it" doing it again is JUST THAT...doing it again...after awhile you have done it enough, and you move on to something else..It is only for so long, that a person can be "excited" and "charismatic" about essentially, very mundane events...they pay you for your "passion" for the sport, and for keeping it all alive in the hearts and minds of others...
