A subject near and dear to my heart.

I won a WinStar naming contest a few years back with this name for a 2011 filly:

BLUEGRASS CAT X THEREGOESMSAMERICA - I named her REDWHITENBLUEGRASS and won a key chain. The filly wound up racing in Korea.

When I was in the breeding business (short-lived), I named our horses somewhat less imaginatively.

ISLAND WHIRL X PARTY CUT UP = ISLAND PARTY
WILD ESCAPADE X I BIEN READY = BIEN WILD
MR. LIVINGSTON X I BIEN READY = PRESUMED READY

The late Norman Casse had fun naming his horses. He had one that he called ISITINGOOD. Not sure of the parentage, and always wondered how he got that past the registry. LOL.

Wasn't Norman still in elementary school when that one ran? He was owned by Pegram and trained by Baffert. A lot of giggles about Isitingood, but it only made me think Pegram was sexually inept.

Woodbine had a couple of horses. One named Blondeinamotel and the other one that got past the JC was Manga Kayka.

His most infamous name was Cunning Stunt. :D

Drazin owned the horse with Kimmel, he told me the story several years back that he would never be able to name another horse similar to that one due to the JC not allowing it.

I'm talking about Norman Casse, Sr. who I worked for down here at OBS ITW in the 90's. You must be thinking about Norm, Jr.

I realized that after I posted. But did the elder Casse train him later on? I remember him being a Pegram horse trained by Baffert.

Edit: I just looked him up. I must've misunderstood you as I see Casse was the co-breeder.

Yes, he had Cardinal Hill Farm down here back then.

I agree with Josh Pons as he said in his book. A horse deserves a good name.

If/when I own a horse (come on mega millions!) rest assured it will have a human name. I had cats named Pete, Repete, and Threepete. I currently have two dogs, Charlie and Doug.

Joel Kligman trained him, he ran into the barn wall and died. Favorite amongst many at MP.
