Del Mar Summer Online Contest 2017
 

I'm currently at -$100. Gave it a shot the first day, then balked the rest of the week because the contest manager keeps picking turf races.

I know it shouldn't be a complaint. Horse racing is about dirt and turf handicapping. But I've played this contest every summer for years, and I'm convinced it's 80% turf races. They didn't even use the San Diego H. (I would have made a $100 show bet on Accelerate).

I imagine it's mostly turf because of full fields. The San Diego would have been a terrible race to use.

I was surprised that they went with exacta bets this time. The guy that is leading hit a $100 cold exacta on the first race for $7k+. I finally made it to the black today with a win bet on #1 and a 1&5 exacta.

Not sure of the strategy with the exactas. They throw a monkey wrench into the whole contest.

I think you almost have to bet exactas to try and catch up. I missed the first week, forgot all about it. Started this week but haven't made much money, still trying to figure out what I should bet.

I've been betting $100 to win on :2: for every turf race lol. I'm currently at -$90.

The exception was my $100 win bet on Roy H, which I was cheated out of after the riderless Drefong carried him wide.

Well, if my :2: strategy takes me anywhere, I might handicap the last week or so for real.

Going with :5: Coastline today actually. $100 win.

Here are my bets for today.

Almost ready to give up, but let's try :2: Majestic Heat over :3: Qiaona and :5: Lynne's Legacy.

I can't hit anything. I've moved on to picking birthdays ;)

Most of the races are ones that I would not play.
