Why no weight allowance?
 

Looking at Sunday's entries at Santa Anita, see Evin Roman is named on a horse in the opener but with no apprentice allowance, yet the rest of the card he's got the 5 lbs off. I understand there's no allowance given in stake races, but this is a claiming affair. Any idea what's up, just a clerical error which will be fixed or something else?

It could be that the trainer had another veteran rider in mind for the horse, and that jockey simply had another call in the race or was unavailable. Also, its possible that he/she just forgot to claim the apprentice Allowance when entering the horse.

or.. the jockey couldn't make weight after the apprentice allowance.
