Horses that break though the gate and are NOT scratched

anytime a you see a horse break though the gate and taken to the other side and reloaded and is declared a starter. Please post here.

Horse name and number, date, odds (* if favorite) and finish position/and payouts (if any)

I watch a lot of races but miss many. so if people can help. :-)

Not only once... but twice for the same race.

Also at Ky Downs today 9/13. R4 #5 , their gate crew seems quite suspect. I think this horse also broke through twice. The horse ran last.

CJ, since you obviously watched this race did you happen to catch Mike Makers horse #3 That was loose on the lead and looked pretty strong suddenly stop, lose his action and drop all the way out. Looked like a winner for awhile. Care to venture a guess as to what happened? The chart said she jumped a worn patch of grass I must have missed that.

My apologies Al99 didnt mean to take the thread off topic.

Ky Downs 9/6
1st race
#9 Dime Dropper
29-1
Finish 2nd

Sorry it doesn't fit the narrative. I'm sure John Langemeier, the owner/trainer, would have preferred being scratched after driving half way across the state for a meet that is difficult just to get a starter in a race, much less have a runner competitive enough to take home a nice percentage of the purse.

I'm guessing you're keeping a database of the same information for the horses that do not break through the gate in these races, but that's only if you're doing a comparison. I'm not trying to be sarcastic. Just a real suggestion trying to be helpful as I'd like to see the effect of this variable because I don't know what it will be.

You can ignore that post. It didn't come out sounding like I intended. I have no right to tell you how to do a study. It's not the same as commenting after it's done. I am interested in the result however.

It’s gonna be a while as not a common occurrence.

Just have to remember to post when I see it, then add it to the spread sheet.

Understood. Given that it's an infrequent event it can take some time to build up a good sample size. In cases like this there is a tendency to come to a conclusion based only on one's personal observations and then develop a selective memory of subsequent events that reinforces this belief. That's why studies are so important,

Threw rider

Another mishap that's interesting to follow is when a horse loses the rider and finishes first. I've hit quite a few longshot winners betting these horses back.
