Well since others are beating me to the hyperbole. Definitely the best I have seen during my time as a player.

Honestly though, he has to be the best since Spectacular Bid and its not hard to say he is the best since Secretariat...but even big red had off days.

This would have to be the first time in my days that I feel 100% in saying noone that I've ever seen could have beaten this horse on this day. Noone.

Unreal. He looked like he wasn't even all out and he was passing horses like a blur.

I'm twice your age. (Wanna trade?) the only race that might compare is Secretariat"s Belmont. Even then.......

None of us could Bob.

As soon as the microphone was put before him, he was still in disbelief. You could see it on his face. He was so very stunned. .... They'll interview him shortly, they just stated.

Awesome. I think he was at least 14 lengths back, maybe 15. Of course, his Travers may not as looked as dramatic as this but the Travers was also one of the most powerful races I've ever seen.

The last time I can remember a horse behind the 8 ball like that and still winning was maybe Invasor in the 2007 Donn.

thaskalos 03-25-2017 01:21 PM

I just woke up. Is there a replay anywhere?

He can be beaten.
If they tie two of his legs together.
Or.......maybe not.

Been looking myself. Seems to be posted on the Dubai Racing Club site, but I have not been able to connect to it.

Same here.

He has to flatten, right? You can't make up that kind of ground going outside the entire field for the entire race. At 6F, maybe. At 10, and against some of the best on the planet? No.

The ridiculous part is he had more left in the tank. The more I think about it, the more incredible it becomes. :pound::cool:

Most people are going to be impressed by the way he overcame the bad break and ground loss. IMO, that was NOT the most impressive part of his victory (though that break was clearly a semi disaster). Today the track was not playing the way Meydan normally plays. Today, it was playing to that wide late move that he got all day long.

IMHO, what makes this horse so amazing and different from just about any horse I have ever seen is that after that sustained run, he looked nowhere near the bottom of his stamina. If he was asked to more earlier, IMO he would have done it and kept going at the same clip late. He just doesn't get tired. It's amazing. To have as much tactical speed as he has (as we've seen in previous races) and to never get tired is kind of unheard of. Some of the other great ones had more speed, but not with this much stamina to go with it.

IMO Gun Runner also ran a big race after being up there all the way, hanging tough, and drawing off from the rest of the horses. He deserves a nod for that effort against a special horse.

In the replay you can see he is passing horses in 2 or 3 strides, gobbling them up afterburner style. Then he actually takes (or initiates) a pretty good thud with Mutajiib, and finishes off the final two in front of him just for fun. It's like watching a horserace on a video game, it doesn't even seem real.
