Odysseus, who finished last under Rajiv Maragh as the 5-1 co-third choice in the April 10 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) has a bone chip in his front left knee according to owner Satish Sanan.

“It’s a bit unusual, it’s rare to have a chip in the back of the knee,” Sanan said. “He must have hyper-extended himself in the race.”

This sucks...I wouldn't have placed him anywhere for the Derby, but thought he'd play a part in the Preakness...strange place for a knee chip...in any event, hope they get it outta there and he'll be back to racing sometime this summer...kind of an interesting colt.

Yea I agree... He was pretty much a derby toss for me. Hopefully he will bounce back in good form.

I was just about ready to remove him from my Kentucky Derby list—don't have to worry about that now.

Hopefully he will be okay and we will see him a little later in the year.

Noble's Promise was scoped with mucous after the Arkansas Derby...McPeek in today's New York Post—he said he is 50/50 for the Derby.

hopefully he doesn't have pain, and gets healed up fast and back to the races at his best!

He really did everything right. He was a lot like Drosselmeyer-light, in that he changed leads with fine balance, was fairly game, and even showed he could run inside horses. He was the type that if he got a performance enhancing "move-up" he could have been dangerous in a graded stakes. (in that way similar to "First Dude")

hope to see Odysseus healthy soon

Imagine that.....getting injured on the "ultra safe" synthetic surface at Keeneland.

I guess that leaves US racing on the outside, huh?

Boggles the mind.

Shame. I was looking forward to seeing him destroy Eskendereya in KD

I remember they were talking about him acting up a little before the race on NBC, I think it was Donna who noticed it. And he seemed to be fighting things throughout. He just wasn't right that day.

well you know how horseplayers/master equine veterinarians/surface experts like to wax poetic, "he was so game he would have injured himself on heavens clouds..."

hopefully he gets well soon.
