Masks are Just "Comfort Blankets"

Government Advisor Admits Masks Are Just “Comfort Blankets” That Do Virtually Nothing

I contend most people wearing them believe they are protecting themselves and could care less that they were supposed to protect other people. I constantly see people still wearing them driving alone or walking outside alone far from other people. I saw a guy yesterday wearing one while riding a motorcycle. It is freaking 95 outside and a dude on a bike has a mask under his full face helmet. I noticed the mask because he removed his helmet while getting gas. I used to ride, on a hot day wearing a full face helmet is like having your head in an oven, then you put a breathing restricting mask on? Must be a joy to be that germophobic.

The masked guy on the bike is infected with the pandemic -- the pandemic of fear, panic and hysteria. This is the kinda guy who basically reasons: "I have but one life to live and I will do whatever it takes to protect it." No matter, of course, how irrational his premise might be. Liking him to a germophobic is a perfect analogy.

I don't wear a mask...but I can't find a valid reason to mock those who do.

The bible teaches far more than mere "tolerance". We are told to not just "tolerate" our enemies...but to LOVE them! But, of course...you might have missed this insignificant tidbit.

This morning I watched my neighbor walk out of his house with his mask on and get into his car and drive by with it still on.

They are just beginning to ease restrictions here, I believe some young and old will never be able to give them up. To some it has become a fashion statement.

There is one young girl about 16 who visits my next door neighbors son she wears a furry cat mask and a fluffy tail, I have never seen her without this get up. Maybe she lost a bet.:D

Just mocking the obvious germophobes. I used to work with one in a large manufacturing facility. The guy would put a rag around his hand when I handed him his paycheck. He would spray disinfectant on his tools before putting them back in his tool box. If he had to pass by a group of people closely he would hold his breath. The guy was pure entertainment. The funny thing he was out sick just as often as anyone else. I wonder what that guy is doing in the age of Covid. I bet he wears a hazmat suit outside his home.

Then again, even before COVID, there were always people who were germaphobes.

My mother used to be one of them. So much so, it probably killed her, ironically.

It's not nice to make fun of people with mental illness.

Newsflash: Love and tolerance aren't the same thing. :coffee:

You're right. It's easier to understand and sympathize with such people. On the other hand, not so much with people who think they're "normal", yet rationalize their irrational actions. In other words, these latter types attribute rational and creditable motives to their actions without critical analysis of their true motives -- even their unconscious ones.

For the record, I do not mock or ridicule people who use masks because they believe those masks are actually protecting them. If grown adults want to choose a harmful path, who am I to interfere with their personal life? However, I do feel anger over grown adults making their little children wear masks because study after study has shown that face diapers are really not good for youngsters. So...parents who don't do their homework and force their kids to mask up are, in my book, abusing their kids in more ways than one.

Sorry to hear than, anytime I see that behavior I remember the guy who I supervised. He was a major PITA outside his odd behavior. If I never worked with the guy I probably wouldn't even notice germophobic behavior.
