Famous for playing Oscar in "The Odd Couple", Jack Klugman passed away today.
A big horse racing fan and owner, he had some good ones over the years, including Jaklin Klugman (3rd in 1980 KY Derby to Genuine Risk).
May he rest in peace.

Man, this is one tough Christmas.
A horse player and great entertainer.
RIP, Oscar!

Maybe they will scatter his ashes over Felix's living room!

One of my all-time favorites.

I talked with him briefly at Arlington Park a long time ago...and he was as nice as he could be.

He told me that all he ever wanted out of life was to outlive Tony Randall. :)

RIP Jack...and thanks for the memories.

Loved Jack.

My dad once played the horses with Klugman at the Stardust for an afternoon.

Hopefully Santa Anita can name a good race after him.

RIP Jack, you'll be missed.

In one Odd Couple episode, Oscar and Felix are looking at a high security apartment (I think) when a bell goes off and Oscar, reaching into his pocket, says 'Gee, can you bet here?'.

We are all in agreement that he will be missed. RIP Jack.

Five dollars for socks.
There's no such thing as a sure thing. That's why they call it gambling.

R.I.P. Oscar

Thank you for 90 wonderful years.

He was what every gambler aspires to be. He lived life his way, was a huge success at his job, got to fire away whenever he wanted and died peacefully at 90. Who could ask for anything more. Thank you Jack or all the joy you brought to so many people. You are my hero and idol.

Thanks for the link. Brought back memories. I was there that day, rooted for the horse and for the owner as I was a fan of the Odd Couple.

I was fortunate to spend a few minutes with Jack in an
OTB parlor located in Rockand County,NY when I believe he visited his daughter.

Attached is a link to the Paulick report with some interesting highlights
regarding Jacklin and sevral parties connected to the horse and Jack.

an incredible actor, and a totally passionate owner and fan of
Thoroughbred racing.

RIP Jack..

From a horseracing standpoint, the Odd Couple was easily the best sitcom ever.

My favorite exchange was when Oscar tried to explain horse betting to Felix:

Felix: So, your horse can come in third and you still win?

Oscar: Yes.

Felix: And you've been losing all these years!!

Everyone forgets what a great dramatic actor he was! Twelve Angry Men...etc.

He was quite good in "Days of Wine and Roses" as a guy trying to help alcoholic Jack Lemmon stay sober (and of course Lemmon would later play Felix in the Odd Couple movie).

RIP Mr. Klugman.

Some people are just especially likeable and Jack Klugman was certainly one of them.

That was a pretty sharp race by Jacklin Klugman in that Travers Prep. I vaguely remember the race, but I don't recall the figure I gave to it. ;)

I remember jack klugman being interviewed about his his horse jacklin ,, and how he met his partner in the horse. they used to sit in the same section but never spoke. one day klugman tapped out early and was about to leave when the other guy asked him why he was leaving so early. klugman told him he lost his money for the day so he was leaving. the guy offered to lend him some money to bet on the remaining races and they became friends after that.
