Last paragraph applies to all of us.

"There's a vast and diverse community of handicappers out there, even if we are always at odds with each other. We couldn't and wouldn't have it any other way"

Thank You for the link

For me its all the above
But its also a companion. A way to stay out of trouble,
and even a social outting. I have met 2 of my good friends
And bunch of interesting people who I would have never had the chance to if not for the track.
I have been able to learn other skills from people I know from racing , The main thing for me is really the money. I can spend
many hours working cards on val 2 over and over at no additional cost (once I download its mine) At home every night
So the learning cost is minimal Then I can go to Pha., Monmouth or Meadowlands for the day (I can't home bet in Jersey legally, and I'm not to crazy about offshore sites )
Spend a few dollars, But make some too. I am ok so I usually
walk out with profit
If I was smart I would keep records of my profit/loss
so that would be a skill to do too.
For me its just a complete wonderful way to spend my free time
once I get out of that dam cold truck
But then again horse racing, and wondering about things on
Val 2 keeps me company in the truck too
Plus Its a great way to stay sharp. My dad is in his early seventies
and He uses handicapping as a tool to keep his mind sharp

Thanks for listening

Wow, that hit home. My Dad was a lifelong player who died at 81 from heart complications. The last time he went to the hospital and we were in the emergency room, he was capping an old simulcast program and showing me to watch for certain class drops.

That may sound really wierd to some, but I found comfort in his love for the races even at such a trying time for him. I'm sure it helped him cope with his health issues.

Horseplayers are the biggest degenerates compared to any other forum of gambling.

Settle down Ralphy, I only post the truth but many cannot handle it.

Retaliation proves guilt.

Doctors have proven that us horseplayers are true degenerates and look at society as a whole and we are viewed as losers.

casino gambling is somehow acepted by the public by not horseplayers

Ralphy I will teach you here, sit back and learn.

Good Luck

Pastime Passion or Addiction?

Are these our only choices? How about racing as a job? Don't love it, but it pays the bills and is less onerous than most other things. Works for me.
