Captaintreacherous.... joins elite company (Camtastic, Niatross) winning as a two year old, not much competition though in a weak year for older horses. May set some speed records next year off multiple races below 1:50 in 2012 .

FWIW, DRF just duplicated the USTA HRC press release:

"Captaintreacherous, who also was named harness racing’s best 2-year-old male pacer, joins Camtastic (1987) and Niatross (1979) as the only 2-year-olds to be named Pacer of the Year. Niatross garnered the first of two consecutive Horse of the Year honors in 1979."

Bret Hanover was HOY as a 2YO and prior to the existence of the "Pacer of the Year" category.
