Magna is starting a new $2 Pick-5 bet on Saturday that will include races from four (4) different tracks. What is your opinion regarding $1 or $2 Pick bets using a single track; or, using multiple tracks?

i think it sucks. to much weather to worry about.

to many different surifaces to try and fique time on

if it's real good the big boys well take it over

just like they do pick six and kill the odds.

Check track websites and workouts for weather and track speed/condition. I woulld like pick 3 at multi tracks.

a national pk 4 every once in a while might be a lot of fun and good. i would think that the comglomorates would be more interested in the pk6s, payoff wise then a pick 4 payoff wise, and would pretty much leave these smaller bets alone giving the smaller bettor some elbow room to pick up a couple of grand or so.
now if they lowerd that $2 cost in the pk5 to a $1 cost i could probably get real interested espeacially if i see a real live single. and heres one thing iam convinced of, and that is, if the cost of the pk 5 were $1 it would probably get a $2 to $6 bet from those that would never play this kind of bet at a $2 cost. it would probably generate a $12 to $20 bet from those that would probably bet no more then $6 at a $2 cost. it would probably generate a $40 to $60 bet from those that would probably normally put no more then an $18 ticket in at a $2 cost. and of coarse it would generate that much more from the sysndicates as well but the attraction that would make difference is, with a pk5 the little guy has a better chance at a much higher payoff then a pk 4 and a better chance to hit a 5er then a 6er. and i believe that the pool would total out higher at $1 then at $2. the little guy could figure it something like this, a $60 in a $1 pk5 with a $10,000 payoff would be equal to an $800 ticket in a $2 pk6 with a $40,0000, the 60 bucks i got, the 800 i dont.

I think it is best to either cherry pick across multiple tracks or focus on one track or circuit. A Pick 5 on 4 tracks is very likely neither. I wouldn't be interested.

I'd play Magna tracks, but I already have multiple accounts -- BRISBET, PhoneBet, CT-OTB plus others. I wrote Magna telling them that I'd love to play their Pick 5, but I'm not opening any more accounts.

1. It's a pain in the ass to remember all those passwords and usernames.

2. I don't want to write software to access toteboards on multiple websites.

3. I don't want to have to fund another account.

4. I asked them to respond to my email with a good reason why I should open an account with them.

5. Honestly, I don't care whether I bet $1,000 claiming races or $1,000,000 stakes races. To paraphrase a quote I read somewhere by Jim "The Hat" Bradshaw: "Shoot. It ain't nothin' but a horse race. One horse goes out and tries to get the lead and the rest try to catch him."

I like $1 p3s, it is pretty simple, and try and catch a longshot, it will pay. Used to watch out at several tracks for good value on my selections and this is usually my only exotic bets.

As to $2 pick 5s........ SCREW MAGNA!

Today's Pick-5:

$2 Pick 5 4-9-7-2-4 (5 correct) 13,928.40 Paid for 5 of 5

Pool 500,000

I had to dig to find this and then we don't get the dirty details. Clearly, Magna had to pony up some bread to get the pool to their guaranteed fig. How much, I'll find out tomorrow.

Sure it's insured, but when the insurance co. has to pay off a couple times they'll be saying, "AMF". (That's: Adios Magna Freaks)

:D :D

Actual handle was $460,400 so they had to pony up about $40k to hit the $500k mark.
