Died here in San Diego.

Like many others, I was introduced to the sitar and Indian classical music because of his association with the Beatles.

When I first heard of his passing, I thought of the Saturday Night Live Weekend Update item after Laurence Olivier died, where they said that every other living actor (or, in Ravi Shankar's case, sitarist) would now move up one position in the rankings. Rest in peace.

His greatest achievement are those vocal chords he passed on to Norah. That girl sings and leftover smoke from blues clubs all over the world comes out. Sexiest voice in the world

Anyone actually enjoy sitar music unless they were really high?

I like her country band a lot, The Little Willies. He has another daughter Anoushka Shankar who plays more traditional Indian music.
