He must have gotten out of prison recently. He received a 2 year sentence in 2010 for cocaine possession discovered during a traffic stop in Saratoga during the 2009 meet. He was also involved in a pool hall brawl in 2002, and arrested.

Thanks for posting this info. I was watching that race and saw him fist pump
at the wire and didn't understand why. I know he has had a lot of trouble,
but I always liked him as a jock.

I was gladdened to see he’s riding again. I remember well when he was tearing it up as an apprentice. Always a threat on a closer; no opening was too narrow, and he never hesitated to take a horse up the rail.

Technically speaking, the pool hall incident wasn’t a “brawl”. According to the account I recall, Norberto was the only one who did any fighting—the other two involved only furnished the heads.
