What will crowd do with this sharp but bad draw, Mcnair/Osullivan? 3/1?

Ray I noticed you recomenned place or show betting for some of those horses. Do you often bet place or show by them selves? See I am trying to figure out the best way for me to bet Yonkers since I pick alot of winners but don't make much money

At Yonkers, if you are able to pick Winners, which for me is rough at that Harness track, try putting together a $1 Pick 3 ticket keying on one race with one horse as the winning horse and spreading 3 to 4 deep in the other two legs (races)///// A $1 Pick 3 ticket - 1 horse by 3 horses by 4 horses would cost $12.00 Yonkers only has a couple of races with that betting option.. so that is what I would recommend.

Good Luck !

roy

I posted those "Place" and "Show" picks just for Pantaleano possibles. I seldom bet in those pools.
But I did go Win/Show on that Yum Yum fun bet.

LAP_520, welcome

Pick 3 is a good way to go for Win bettors.

mel and I, have had several posts on parlays vs pic bets and the Take-out being applied only once in Pic3 seems to have the advantage. I like tracks that offer a rolling pic3, I wonder if any track has tried "Any 3-Pick3" or Any "Four-Pick Four"?
I think that wager would be even more popular than lowering the minimum ticket price to 20¢

horses4courses, welcome to "The Dark Side" :)

Just as an FYI Ray the takeout rate on the pic3 at Northfield is 14 percent. Many of the tracks have a 15 take on the pic4 bet. The lower the take the better I like it. :) Like your idea of "any pic3 or any pic4". Maybe the outdated tote systems of the racing industry will not permit it. M1 this next meet wil go with two pic4"s. The more the merrier at 15 percent take. :)

You're probably right about the "Horse and Buggy" tote system, (Pun intended) and there will always be some punter who'll use the last race for his final leg, so the payoff won't come until the party's over. But... would that keep the live crowd around longer? and betting more?

Strategy would be interesting. Would you go for 3 (or 4) easy handicapable races like most players or throw in a tough one and go for the pot....hmmm?

Ray as you posted before Pompano is now starting a pic4 with a 10 takeout rate. That alone will cause me to take a long look at it. My wish list would be your idea on "any pic3 or pic4" but rolling pic3's are nice. Wish more tracks had them. It's a nice feature. Yesterday at Monticello a track which has the rolling pic3s they had a nice 481 pic that suited me fine. :) The first leg had a nice 16 dollor horse that I liked. So did "Catskill Steve". As much as I like the reduced take on these bets I don't play many of them. It's the expanded options of looking for a good set up that I like. If you can get a price in leg 1 of any pic bet it goes a long way to getting a nice final payout on that bet. Seems a lot of the public likes to be "live" after leg one.

Also speaking of Jimmy Pants going for 6000 career wins I think Brett Miller is in the same quest. Either very very close or he just got it. Roger the voice as been doing a countdown at the Meadows for a while now. That is quite a milestone.

Thank you Lap. Good advice. It is rough to pick winners at Yonkers at good odds. Picking favorites seems easy for me. Not profitable but easy.
