Pop-Up Question

I've been noticing on various sites that I visit (including PA), certain words in the website copy will be underlined, and when I scroll over them (without clicking), a pop-up ad appears that does not necessarily have anything to do with the underlined word. Is this just an advertising/link exchange tool used by the sites, or is there something in my computer that is causing this to happen?

Here on PA I don't utilize any advertising that would intentionally place a hyperlink on key words to cause what you are describing.

Thus I can only conclude that something in your browser or possibly a malware/virus is responsible for what you are seeing.

I COULD join up with a company that would monetize copy words by turning them into hyperlinks, but I choose not to because I think something like that is too intrusive to the user's experience here on PA.

I believe that is something you have installed on your machine. Perhaps malware.

I have never seen what you are describing on PA.
