View Full Version : LSU- Ole Miss....here we go again

LSU is in another fight. Ole Miss leads @ the half, 21-17. 300 yds of total O so far for the Rebs.

Football is a funny game. A mediocre TEXAS team whipped Ole Miss mercilessly in Oxford, 66-31 & took 2 knees inside the 5 yd line or else we'd have scored 73 points.....now they're leading LSU.

Have to wonder if the hurry up pass-oriented spread (which wasn't the same as Malzahn's offense or the Tebow UF offense, or the crap Spurrier is running) is quasi kryptonite for a SEC type of defense. Having these really good, physical defenses only have a week to prepare for the passing spread type attack might be posing a problem....longer story there...., but this game right now is going to be entertaining regardless of who wins.

Damned entertaining game. Punt return eerie similar to Billy Cannon's. Just glad to get a W. Now Arkansas Friday. Hope we can put it away early but its the Hogs Bowl game.

LSU doesn't take a lead in the 2nd half until 15 seconds left in the game, squeaks out a 41-35 win

KSU getting a game vs Baylor. BU up 14-7. Gameday crew said this would be a challenge for KSU, Zimmerman's out and Baylor can move the ball on anybody

Early this yr I heard Briles was the frontrunner for the Arkansas job, not sure if true but his style of offense in the SEC would give those D's some fits. His big drawback, he's never had a defense as a HC.....makes winning a title almost impossible, he'd have to make concessions on that end of the game

Baylor up by 2 touchdowns now, 6 mins left in the 2nd qtr......s/b up by 3 td's, one td pass was dropped earlier

Oregon losing to the Trees, Bama is the luckiest guy in the NCAA football room at the moment. #1 and #2 are losing, they have toothless UGA in the SEC CCG.

I was thinking UT was gonna knock off KSU. Baylor might gettem too.

This season will just prove why even a 4 team playoff doesn't really solve everything.

Yup!

Notre Dame is definitely worthy of their #1 ranking but does anyone really think they are all that good?

someone will always have a gripe. I think its better now than it used to be before the BCS

As long as things aren't decided on the field, they probably have a right to gripe. In no other sport is the championship decided by people that don't even watch the games most of the time. Even in rigged boxing the officials at least have to sit at ringside before they screw somebody at the end.

funny, i was talking with guys at work about how I'm just going to watch the lousy games at home this saturday. The games this week were horrible, all blowouts and mismatches

Yet tonight I found myself switching back n forth on 3 games

KSU I guess wasn't that big a surprise, although I certainly didn't call it.....Klein was hurt 2 weeks ago, last week he was basically taken out of the KSU offensive gameplan.....Today, the same......He looks like hos body is broken down to be honest. He doesn't have the power running style he had before 2 weeks ago, and Snider isn't calling his number as much....definitely hurt

I'd hate to be in that kid's body at age 50....he has taken a beating the past 2 yrs. Last yr vs TEXAS I was amazed the kid could walk off the field after all the shots he took.

Also, Zimmerman was out, 2 of BU's long runs were b/c of missed tackles by a safety coming up to plug....goodness knows how many blown assignments in cov'g there were.....they missed their leader in the DB'field

Now I hear Barkley's injury might be severe enough to keep him off the field.....ND finally catching some breaks (till they play Bama - who I think is also over rated)

Just when you thought a boring day for football was upon us.....

Do you think Ark will show up? Smith won't be back. Lame duck coach vs a more talented LSU team, they may pack it up.... I dunno

It'll be interesting to see who Piggy hires. Arkansas was talking to Briles early I hear (summer), but Drayton McLane has promised Briles the moon to stay in Waco.... Tennessee also is likely looking for a coach.......It'll be interesting to see who goes where

p.s....although Lane Kiffin will be available, I doubt Tennessee will be open to him coming back, LOL

Don't know who gets the Hogs job..Gundy has been mentioned along with Patterson and even Tuberville. Ironically, Petrino has been mentioned at Tennessee since well..he has a clean slate there  .

You remember the day Kiffin announced his resignation at Tennessee? The state police had to escort him from the field house. Them hillbillies were ready to lynch him

Arkansas has historically played LSU hard. They gave Saban a farewell gift his last season here and beat us in overtime in 07 with a QB named Casey Dick so nothing is taken for granted. We really need to take them outta the game early so they can focus on the next coach and next year. The longer they hang around, the tougher the game will get.

I doubt Gundy is going anywhere any time soon. He has it made in the shade.

If I were a college football poll voter, I would move down about 5 to 10 places any team that wins over Wofford, Ga Southern, W Carolina, Jacksonville, and Sam Houston this late in the season. I'm not sure if I'd move them back up the next week, but I'd try to send a message that that's not what good teams should be doing.

Huh?

Michigan, Stanford, Pitt, and their early season strength of schedule?

They definitely deserve to be #1 but have been given gifts from Denard Robinson, the Refs in the Stanford game, and Pitt's kicker.

I'm not sure still how good they really are... they have one good win against Oklahoma... that's about it.

+1....and as odd as it sounds, he is exactly where he wants to be. Okla may not be the greatest place on earth, but if you like it, you like it. It's home to him, he loves the Univ, and it's where his heart is.

In order for him to leave there w/h to be extreme discourse between him and the BOR, T Boone, and the AD. And I just don't see that happening for a very long time if ever

You forgot Alabama A&M

Alabama, Florida, Georgia, anm, Auburn taking the easy route this late is inexcuseable. They ought to be playing each other now, not in Sept

Heck I almost forgot....Garrett McGee was the guy Ark wanted but it was too late to contact him for 2012. He'll get a look.

Petrino and Tenny......you're right, that would be a match :)

I don't know how TCU hangs on to Patterson, but he hasn't left. I've heard TEXAS wants to talk to him IF they decide to dump Mack. When Patterson declined to talk serious with KSU when Snider left, tells a lot. Kansas is his home, yet he declined going to a better situation....TCU is "nowhere" in college football.

Tubby- I know a lot of Tech alums that would love to see him go :)

Peterson (Boise) has turned down a lot of offers, not sure he's going anywhere

Gundy - not going anywhere imo

Kirby Smart - someone is going to pick him up at some point i'd think

Charlie Strong- He'll get a look but when I see his team I'm just not impressed.

Mike Reilly - OS may have to pony up, but he's getting up in years so I don't know if a top program would chase him. I

Mora of UCLA- Coaching whore, he'll be somewhere else by 2015...maybe even this yr if someone offers a better deal

Tressel - it would surprise me if he coached again at the D1 level, but not shock me. If Briles leaves BU, I can see the Baptist Vatican chase him

Jason Garrett- unless he makes the playoffs he's gone here. someone in D1 will go after him but he's really an nfl guy....recruiting wouldn't suit him

I know you like to rip OK, but like I said, I've lived all over the world and I chose to live here. There is a lot to like about Oklahoma. I like lots of other places too.

I've seen Petrino mentioned for Kentucky too. That would be a creepy slimy sort of match. :)
