I would have to think that Day is thinking about hanging it up in the next few years. Earlie Fires is still riding although he doesn't accept too many mounts any more. Its a crime Fires isn't in Racing's HOF.

Earlie Fires was elected to the HOF, in 2002, I believe. He was very thrilled, and the Chicago racing community is very happy for him.

I was lucky enough to be there in person at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion when Earlie Fires was inducted into the Hall of Fame of The National Museum of Racing. Looking around at the audience when Earlie gave his acceptance speech, I think one of the proudest men in attendance was Terry Meyocks of NYRA as Terry's father was Fire's agent for many years.
