Press release. (http://www.barnesandnobleinc.com/newsroom/customer_notice.html)

I heard this announced on the morning news earlier today. It caught my attention b/c B & N is the (only) bookstore where I make purchases.

The email I sent asking for more information was replied to with the typical 'thank you for you inquiry, we're doing the best we can (to protect ourserlves).'

As indicated in the PR, they are no longer using the swipe/key pad device for any transactions.

And, as an added note, while researching the possible purchase of a Nook, another security hole was found out. Any personal information such as credit card numbers used while making purchases via the internet using the Nook can be compromised.

It's a jungle out there. And, as they said on Hill Street Blues, be careful out there.
